CONTRACT / FREELANCE ROLE — Senior Application Security Engineer (SDLC)Job Title:Application Security Engineer (Contract / Freelance) Engagement:6–12 months (with possible extension) Location:Amsterdam (Hybrid)About the Opportunity Our client—an industry-leading fintech platform—is seeking a contract Application Security Engineer to bolster the capabilities of a senior engineering and security group. You’ll be brought in as a specialist, working alongside highly skilled engineers to harden critical, large-scale trading and financial systems. This is ideal for someone with adevelopment-first background, seasoned in application security, who thrives in an environment where technical depth and autonomy matter.What You’ll Do (Contract Focus) Conduct deep-level code reviews to uncover high-impact vulnerabilities. Advise senior engineers on secure design patterns across the SDLC. Implement, maintain, and optimize SAST/DAST/SCA pipelines. Support bug bounty triage and interaction with external researchers. Oversee or participate in targeted security audits (black-box, red/purple team). Provide AppSec expertise for third-party vendor and tooling evaluations.What You Bring Extensive experience in software engineeringbeforetransitioning into security. Strong background in web/app security, cloud platforms, and Linux systems. Ability to operate independently and deliver expert-level guidance quickly.
