The Role: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

We are looking for a
hands-on, visionary CTO
to
lead the technical architecture and development
of Petso's mobile application and backend infrastructure during its critical early phase.

This is a
founding-level role
, offering
meaningful equity
with the opportunity to shape the product, team, and long-term technical direction of the company.

Key ResponsibilitiesMobile App Leadership

  • Lead the
    architecture, development, and scaling
    of Petso's mobile application (iOS & Android)
  • Make key decisions around
    tech stack, frameworks, and infrastructure
  • Oversee UI/UX implementation in collaboration with designers

Core Product Features

You will own and help build features including:

  • Digitisation of pet documents and data
  • Secure, tamper-proof pet records
    (vaccinations, medical files, DNA, birth certificates)
  • Pet Digital Identity (DID)
    and ownership records
  • AI-powered Pet NFTs
  • Appointment booking system
    for vets, groomers, trainers, and other professionals
  • Family Tree functionality
    linking pet lineage across users and geographies

Platform & Infrastructure

  • Design and manage secure
    data storage solutions
    (centralised + decentralised where appropriate)
  • Implement
    privacy-first access controls
    and permission-based data sharing
  • Collaborate on
    blockchain integrations
    (DID, NFTs, ownership verification)

Team & Strategy

  • Act as a
    technical co-founder
    , contributing to product vision and roadmap
  • Hire and lead future engineering talent post-fundraise
  • Work closely with founders, advisors, and external partners

Ideal Candidate Profile

We're looking for someone who is:

  • A
    hands-on builder
    , not just a manager
  • Passionate about
    mobile apps, emerging tech, and real-world impact
  • Comfortable working in
    early-stage, equity-first environments

Must-Have Experience

  • Strong experience in
    mobile app development
    (React Native, Flutter, Swift/Kotlin, or similar)
  • Backend experience , Firebase, AWS, Supabase, or equivalent)
  • Blockchain/Web3 experience (DIDs, NFTs, smart contracts, ZKP)
  • Experience with
    secure data handling
    and privacy-focused systems
  • Product-driven mindset with startup experience

Nice-to-Have (Not Required)

  • Blockchain/Web3 experience (DIDs, NFTs, smart contracts)
  • Experience integrating
    AI or data intelligence
  • Prior experience in
    health, identity, or regulated data platforms
  • Love for pets
