A fast-growing crypto company based in Amsterdam is seeking a strategic and hands-on
Data Protection Officer
to lead its data protection efforts across Europe. With a MiCAR license and a strong regulatory foundation, the company is scaling intentionally while maintaining a tight-knit culture focused on autonomy and integrity.

This role offers the opportunity to build privacy and governance frameworks from the ground up in a regulated crypto environment. The DPO will be responsible for shaping and executing the company's data protection strategy, ensuring compliance, and embedding privacy into business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company's data protection strategy and governance (2nd line).
  • Advise on GDPR, MiCAR, and cross-border privacy matters.
  • Develop privacy policies, training programs, and tooling.
  • Oversee PIAs/DPIAs and incident response processes.
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate privacy into daily operations (1st line).
  • Liaise with regulators and ensure ongoing compliance.

Key Requirements:

  • Fluency in Dutch is required.
  • Experience in privacy law, data protection, or compliance.
  • Strong understanding of GDPR and European regulatory frameworks.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute and build systems from scratch.
  • Autonomous and proactive, with a senior mindset.
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Crypto experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Suitable for Privacy Officers with ambition to grow into a DPO role.
  • Consultancy profiles are not a fit-this is an embedded, ownership-driven position.
