What you will do

As a Data Science Intern, you play an active role in classifying and understanding our product families by applying machine learning techniques to product specification, cost and pricing data. Your work supports transparency, cost optimisation and portfolio decisions. You will be involved in:

  • Analysing existing datasets (technical attributes, cost and pricing)
  • Cleaning, merging and preparing structured data
  • Applying supervised learning techniques (e.g., decision trees, k-NN)
  • Applying unsupervised learning techniques (e.g., k-means, hierarchical clustering)
  • Evaluating model performance and translating findings into clear business insights
  • Visualising patterns such as clusters, groups or cost drivers
  • Collaborating with product managers and finance to understand data context
  • Documenting your process, assumptions and outcomes
  • Advising on data improvements to support future analyses

You are encouraged to bring your own ideas, explore different analytical approaches and take initiative in shaping your project.

Who you are

  • You are currently enrolled in a BSc or MSc program such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science or another quantitative discipline.
  • Curious, analytical and eager to apply machine learning to real product and pricing challenges.
  • Able to work independently, structured and with attention to detail.
  • Confident in translating technical findings into business-friendly communication.
  • Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus but not required).

Skills

  • Good understanding of ML techniques (decision trees, k-NN, clustering)
  • Familiarity with tools such as Python (scikit-learn), R or Weka
  • Strong data handling skills: cleaning, merging, reconciling datasets
  • Ability to translate business questions into analytical solutions
