Primary Purpose & Scope

As part of the Data & Analytics (D&A) department, the internship program is designed to give Master's students a meaningful opportunity to contribute to real-world AI and data engineering challenges. The intern will work on a thesis-aligned project focused on strategic topics such as improving ML model performance, optimizing campaign mechanisms, or testing generative AI solutions.

This role offers exposure to the full lifecycle of data product development within a team that drives innovation and commercial value through data. The position and team are part of the Global Data & Analytics department. TCC's D&A function adds value by enabling different business units and geographies with insights and analytics solutions, in designing and executing high-quality loyalty campaigns for our retail clients.

Role & Responsibilities

The role will support the Data & AI Engineering function, and responsibilities include:

  • Executing a well-defined, thesis-level project in line with the D&A strategy (e.g. projection model accuracy, dynamic shopper experience modelling, campaign optimization, agentic AI prototyping)
  • Working with Azure-based tools and platforms (Azure DevOps, Azure ML)
  • Participating in agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives)
  • Regularly aligning with the mentor for technical and professional guidance
  • Presenting work and insights during monthly knowledge sharing sessions
  • Learning and applying good engineering practices, including MLOps
  • Engaging with internal stakeholders through workshops, office visits, and informal interactions
  • Reflecting on personal development goals and sharing learnings with the team

  • University thesis supervisor or internship coordinator

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education & Background:

  • Master's student in Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics, Data Science, Econometrics, or related field
  • Enrolled in a Dutch university with the internship/thesis scheduled in their study plan

Skills & Competencies:

  • Solid Python skills and interest in ML/AI applications
  • Understanding of data pipelines, ML models, or optimization logic
  • Interest in working with platforms like Azure, MLflow
  • Proactive, curious, and eager to learn in a dynamic business environment
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in an agile team
  • Good communicator (English)

Experience:

  • Prior project or coursework in ML/AI, optimization, or analytics required
  • Experience working with real data or cloud platforms is a plus
