Hedging Solutions Specialist

NN Re reinsures the guarantees underlying various products sold by NN Group's Business Units. To pay future contingent claims arising from these reinsurance contracts NN Re holds a reserve. Volatility in the market value of the reserves is the source of market risk for NN Re. The Hedging Solutions team is responsible for the daily hedging of these market risks.

A typical day of a Hedging Solutions specialist: You start your morning by assessing our interest rate and credit spread exposure. Yesterday there was quite some news in the financial markets, so you might need to do some trades. With no trading expected until lunch, you work on improving our proprietary hedging algorithms either to improve our hedging strategy or to onboard new business in co-operation with the Reinsurance Solutions team. Time for lunch, but before you go check if you need to adjust our cash positions. Last night's market moves pushed SP500 down, and we got quite some USD cash for our short position. As the afternoon progresses, you focus on closing our Equity and FX delta exposures and you work further on your projects. But then, the US exchanges are in red again and our Equity and FX delta need some attention and trades needs to be done before it is time to wrap up the day. What you are going to do

As a Hedging Solutions specialist you will be responsible for:

• Work on the hedging and trading operations by creating trades and executing them directly in their corresponding markets on a daily basis according to our hedging strategy
• Being available to troubleshoot any issues in the daily operations and to help your team members
• Contribute to our proprietary quantitative library written in C# in order to improve daily hedging operations, fund mappings and hedging algorithms and onboarding new products or financial instruments
• Research, back-test, and propose new strategies directly on our hedging algorithms

Who you are

• You have a master's degree in the field of Economics, Finance, Econometrics, or a similar quantitative background with relevant work experience, strong quantitative and analytical skills and affinity with financial markets
• You have approximately 3 years of relevant work experience; candidates with at least 2.5 years of experience are also encouraged to apply
• You have a good understanding how financial derivatives work, their usage, valuation and sensitivities and risk management principles and techniques
• You have programming knowledge and experience and the thrive to become proficient in C# (object-oriented programming) and you take the initiative to propose changes to the current hedging processes
• You are a team player with an inquisitive mind who enjoys, is able to find solutions on problems where no public literature or research exists. Further you have a proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English
• You are flexible and prepared to jump in the trading if the circumstances require it
