We are seeking a
Freelance Electrical Technician / E&I Technician
to support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of advanced
maritime electronic systems
onboard a fleet of high-performance vessels. You will ensure the continued accuracy and reliability of
dynamic positioning systems, hydrographic and surveying instruments, and related ICT infrastructure
.

Your role combines hands-on technical expertise, system troubleshooting, and remote support — sometimes guiding onboard technicians via smart glasses, other times flying directly to vessels to resolve complex electronic and control issues.

Your Role

  • Plan, prepare, and execute
    installation and commissioning activities
    for electrical, instrumentation, and nautical systems onboard vessels.
  • Ensure all electronic and control systems operate efficiently and contribute to optimal production performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults in
    electronic circuits, sensors, control interfaces, and communication networks
    .
  • Maintain detailed records of service activities and completed work in fleet management systems and technical logbooks.
  • Contribute to the
    development and optimization of maintenance procedures
    for onboard electronic and E&I systems.
  • Synchronize control and operational systems including
    power electronics, PLCs, and automation interfaces
    , ensuring full compliance with international maritime standards.
  • Provide remote support and guidance to onboard teams using digital tools and smart glasses technology.

Your Profile

  • Technical qualification in
    Mechatronics, Electronics, or Maritime Technology (MBO Level 4 / HBO or equivalent)
    .
  • Proven experience in
    marine electronics, mechatronics, or offshore service engineering
    .
  • Familiarity with
    hydrographic, positioning, and surveying equipment
    is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of
    electronic circuits, data communication protocols, and control integration
    .
  • Proficient in
    English
    (spoken and written) and comfortable using standard ICT tools and fleet management software.
  • Able to work independently in both
    onshore and offshore environments
    , with a proactive, hands-on approach.
  • Registered
    ZZP'er
    and eligible to work in the Netherlands.
  • Willing to travel to support vessel operations when required.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with
    dynamic positioning (DP) systems
    , navigation electronics, or marine automation.
  • Knowledge of
    PLC-based control systems
    and power electronics.
  • Strong diagnostic and system synchronization abilities across multiple onboard platforms.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary technical teams in maritime or offshore settings.
