About the Role

As a Senior EU ETS Trader, you will take ownership of developing and executing a results-driven trading strategy within the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). You will focus on building and managing a strong network of counterparties, identifying market opportunities, and executing high-value trades. This role requires an independent, strategic thinker with deep market insight who thrives in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Market Coverage: Execute a strategic approach to identify and capitalize on trading opportunities within the EU ETS, including EUA, EUAA, and related instruments.
• Counterparty Development: Build and manage a strong portfolio of counterparties through direct outreach, relationship management, and consistent market presence.
• Trading Strategy: Develop and implement an effective, data-driven trading strategy that aligns with regulatory developments and market dynamics.
• Deal Execution: Negotiate and close trades independently, managing your own P&L book and consistently surpassing performance targets.
• Market Intelligence: Maintain a high level of expertise in carbon market trends, EU regulatory frameworks, and geopolitical factors impacting carbon pricing.
• Cross-Desk Collaboration:
  Work closely with the Environmental Products Desk, Analysts, and fellow Traders to expand OTC Flow's carbon market footprint and deliver integrated client solutions.

About you

• Experience: 4+ years of trading or brokering experience in the EU ETS or broader carbon markets, ideally within a leading trading house, brokerage, or compliance-focused firm;
• Drive: Entrepreneurial, competitive, and motivated to succeed in a fast-evolving market landscape;
• Skills: Strong communicator and negotiator with a track record of successfully closing high-value trades;
• Focus: Highly target-driven and thrives under pressure in a dynamic, performance-based environment;
• Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the EU ETS, including regulatory frameworks, market mechanisms, and trading strategies;
• Team Player: Collaborative and proactive, contributing to desk-wide success while continuously growing your own portfolio;
• Languages: Fluent in English; additional European languages are a strong asset.
