FI Lending (FIL) is part of Wholesale Banking (WB) Lending and works exclusively for and with the FI Sector organization. FIL represents an anchor product for cementing client relationships with banks and non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) such as insurance companies, asset managers and funds. The teams have global coverage and manage and execute the full value chain of lending to financial institutions, from risk rating, analysis, preparation of credit applications to the tailoring, negotiation and execution of loan documentation. Additionally, the FIL teams are responsible for managing the complete credit process for Financial Markets (FM), Transaction Services (TS), and Group Treasury (GT) business.
Currently, FI Lending business is conducted through specialized teams in Amsterdam, Warsaw and Singapore covering general lending, usually unsecured, to clients in EMEA, US and APAC respectively.
 

Your role
We are looking for a new Lead of the Bank & Sovereign (B&S) team of the Amsterdam based FI Lending unit. The unit is organized into two teams: Banks & Sovereigns, and NBFIs. He or she will report to the Head of FI Lending Netherlands and will lead a team of 10 FI lending professionals covering the EMEA and US jurisdictions.
In addition to strong managerial capabilities, this role demands advanced expertise in credit analysis, structuring and documentation of lending transactions and a good understanding of Financial Markets and Transaction Services products, as well as effective people and stakeholder management skills.

The FIL Banks & Sovereigns team is responsible for the credit work (credit rationales, ratings etc.) related to all Banks and Sovereigns in the EMEA and US regions. In addition, the unit covers origination and execution of senior unsecured Lending transactions. The team works in liaison with designated FI Sector teams and other business units including Risk, Legal, FM, TS, and GT.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the day to day operations of the B&S team, while simultaneously managing your own credit portfolio and transactions. You will engage with the Head of FIL NL to formulate strategy for business development and to optimize operational efficiency within the department. Additional responsibilities include portfolio management, participation in and contribution to WB (FI) Lending NL initiatives (incl. OHI, Tribe Lending and standardization projects), accountability for the quality and growth of the B&S team's Lending portfolio. You will also play an active role in the development of people and culture of the team, ensure awareness of relevant regulatory developments, and engage constructively and persuasively with key stakeholders and partners of FI Lending including FI Sector, Risk Management, Products (Lending, FM, TS & GT), Legal, Compliance and WB Capitals & Models.

The role is based in Amsterdam.
 

Who are we looking for
We are looking for a candidate with the following knowledge and experience:

• Minimum 8-12 years of relevant banking experience
• Sound people management, social & communication skills
• Superior credit analysis skills, preferably involving financial institutions
• Familiarity with the ING suite of Lending products and related documentation
• Lead by example attitude
• Management experience is strongly preferred
• Excellent stakeholder management and organizational sensitivity to act within complex stakeholder environments across business lines
• Make it happen mindset and track record, and enthusiasm for helping others to be successful
• Financial Markets and Transaction Services experience is preferred
• Positive attitude to change and drive for continuous improvement
