SAP COE BASIS Architect

Job Summary:

The Senior SAP BASIS Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the SAP BASIS infrastructure within an SAP RISE environment. This role focuses on ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability of SAP systems deployed on the SAP RISE platform. The architect collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers to support business objectives and maintain a robust SAP landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and architect SAP BASIS landscapes specifically tailored for SAP RISE environments, including cloud-native and hybrid scenarios.
• Oversee the installation, configuration, upgrade, and patching processes in collaboration with SAP RISE managed services and internal teams.
• Develop and implement strategies for SAP system performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting within the SAP RISE framework.
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies are aligned with SAP RISE service capabilities and business continuity requirements.
• Manage SAP security aspects, including user administration, roles, authorizations, and compliance with corporate and regulatory security policies.
• Collaborate with SAP functional, development teams, and SAP RISE support to facilitate system enhancements, customizations, and issue resolution.
• Provide expert technical guidance on SAP BASIS architecture and best practices without direct team leadership responsibilities.
• Evaluate and recommend new SAP technologies, tools, and best practices relevant to SAP RISE.
• Manage SAP transport management system and change control processes in coordination with SAP RISE managed services.
• Coordinate with infrastructure and cloud service teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of SAP systems on SAP RISE.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures specific to SAP RISE environments.
• Participate in capacity planning and system sizing activities in alignment with SAP RISE service offerings.
• Ensure compliance with corporate IT policies, SAP RISE contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in SAP BASIS administration and architecture, with a focus on cloud-based SAP environments.
• Strong expertise in SAP NetWeaver, S/4HANA, SAP Solution Manager, and SAP RISE platform capabilities.
• Proficiency in database administration for SAP-supported databases (SAP HANA preferred).
• Experience working with SAP RISE or similar cloud-managed SAP services.
• In-depth knowledge of SAP system installation, configuration, upgrades, and migrations within cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of SAP security concepts and compliance requirements.
• Experience with automation tools and scripting (Shell, Python, PowerShell) to optimize SAP BASIS operations.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external service providers.
• SAP BASIS certification is a plus.
