Compliance Officer (Second Line)

In this role, you report directly to the Chief Risk Officer and are responsible for designing, strengthening, and safeguarding effective compliance and integrity risk management. You achieve this through independent oversight, advisory support, and monitoring activities. You develop, maintain, and embed the compliance framework—including policies, standards, and controls—ensuring strong alignment with applicable external regulations and internal governance requirements.

You advise and constructively challenge senior management and first-line stakeholders on compliance obligations, instances of non-compliance, and strategic decision-making. You ensure that regulatory developments and ethical standards are identified early and are fully and timely incorporated into business processes and management decisions.

You conduct structured compliance assessments of products, services, and operational processes, and provide clear advice on risk mitigation measures. You oversee the execution of the compliance monitoring plan, assess the effectiveness of key controls, and follow up on identified deficiencies until appropriate remediation is completed.

You analyse the impact of regulatory changes and translate these into practical recommendations for management. You act as a key sparring partner for the Management Board and Supervisory Board, collaborate closely with internal audit, coordinate responses to audit findings, and ensure accurate, transparent, and timely compliance reporting.

In addition, you design and deliver compliance training and awareness initiatives on topics such as AML, sanctions, and customer due diligence. You also independently investigate potential compliance breaches or integrity-related incidents.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, maintaining, and ensuring effective implementation of the compliance framework, including policies, standards, and controls
  • Advising and challenging senior management and first-line functions on compliance obligations, incidents, and strategic matters
  • Performing structured compliance risk assessments for new products, services, and processes and issuing formal compliance advice
  • Ensuring execution of the compliance monitoring program, assessing control effectiveness, and tracking remediation of findings
  • Assessing regulatory developments and advising management on their impact
  • Acting as a primary point of contact for senior governance bodies, regulators, and internal audit
  • Developing and delivering compliance training and awareness programs
  • Independently investigating potential compliance or integrity violations
