Our client is a leading international company specializing in rail infrastructure, signaling systems, and maintenance services. In the Netherlands, the organization focuses on ensuring safe, reliable, and sustainable railway operations through innovative technology and long-term service contracts.

For their office in the Rotterdam region, we are looking for an accounting and reporting lead.

Purpose of the Role

The Accounting and Reporting Lead is responsible for delivering high-quality financial reporting,

ensuring strong control over accounting processes, and supporting strategic decision-making

through insightful analysis. This role partners closely with the Country Finance Director and the

Site Management Team to drive continuous improvement in financial performance,

control, and efficiency. In this role, you are part of the site management team.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis


• Lead the preparation of accurate and timely monthly management reports.


• Provide financial insights to support business performance and decision-making.


• Drive improvements in the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of management information

and financial forecasts.


• Ensure adherence to IFRS and company accounting policies.

Forecasting, Budgeting & Planning


• Coordinate and lead the annual budget and periodic forecasting processes.


• Support the Finance Director in monitoring performance against budget and identifying key

business drivers.


• Deliver meaningful variance analysis and recommendations for corrective actions.

Financial Controls & Compliance


• Maintain a robust control environment that ensures data integrity and compliance with

internal and external requirements.


• Support continuous improvement of financial controls and reporting processes.


• Act as a focal point for external audits, ensuring smooth coordination and timely

completion.

Business Partnership


• Collaborate with the Site Managing Director and department heads to strengthen financial

and cost awareness across the organization.


• Translate financial data into clear insights and recommendations to drive operational

efficiency.


• Work closely with the Global Finance Centre (GFC) to optimize processes and ensure

effective handover of transactional activities.

Continuous Improvement & Projects


• Identify and implement process enhancements within accounting and reporting.


• Support the migration and optimization of finance processes in partnership with the GFC.


• Contribute to broader finance transformation and systems improvement initiatives.

Candidate Profile

Education & Experience


• HBO (bachelor) degree (or equivalent) in Accounting or Finance.


• Minimum of 5 years' experience in accounting, reporting, and financial analysis.


• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS.


• Proficiency in SAP and advanced Excel skills.
