Senior Project Manager | Energy & Life Sciences | Randstad, NetherlandsLong-Term Contract / Freelance PositionWe are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead large-scale capital projects acrossthe Energy and Life Sciences industries. This is a strategic, long-term opportunity to drive innovation, efficiency, and excellence across complex, high-value projects in one of Europe's most dynamic industrial regions.Our client is a global owner-operator and developer investing significantly in ambitious programmes to deliver state-of-the-art pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and decarbonisation projects throughout the Netherlands and the wider European Union. With major investments underway, you will play a key role in shaping project delivery strategy and ensuring successful outcomes.Role OverviewAs Senior Project Manager, you will oversee the full project lifecycle—from conceptual planning and engineering through execution, commissioning, and handover. Working closely with functional leads across construction, engineering, procurement, and operations, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.You will act as the primary interface for stakeholders, driving alignment across multidisciplinary teams, managing risk, and implementing governance and reporting frameworks that enable successful project delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage complex capital projects across the Energy and Life Sciences sectors, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.Develop and execute project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource strategies.Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, construction, procurement, and commissioning to ensure seamless project delivery.Oversee risk management, quality assurance, and compliance with HSE and regulatory requirements.Monitor and report project performance to senior stakeholders, implementing corrective actions as needed.Drive continuous improvement, best practices, and innovation across project management processes.Build and mentor high-performing project teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.Qualifications & ExperienceProven experience managing large-scale industrial or capital projects (>€100 million) in Energy, Life Sciences, or Process Industries (Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Petrochemical, or Oil & Gas).Strong background in project governance, scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder management.Experience delivering projects with sustainability, decarbonisation, or innovative technical requirements is highly advantageous.Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills to manage international, multidisciplinary teams.Fluency in English is required; Dutch language skills are a plus.If you are interested in finding out more about this position, please apply for the role or send your details and CV directly to Antony Fairclough or via the ENG Bauen website.We look forward to speaking with you.Keywords:Senior Project Manager, Project Director, Capital Projects, Project Delivery, CAPEX, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Energy, Petrochemical, Decarbonisation, Industrial Projects, Project Governance, EU, Randstad, Netherlands, Project Leadership, Stakeholder Management.
