For our operations department, we are looking for candidates for the position of:

Analyst/ Lab Technician
(32 – 40 hours per week)
What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for performing a wide range of laboratory tasks, including the execution, coordination, and optimization of molecular biology laboratory procedures. We work with both Next Generation Sequencing and Sanger sequencing technologies. Your work will form the foundation for important decisions made by our clients.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Receiving and registering client projects and samples, and performing quality control checks on incoming samples
  • Conducting analyses depending on the type of sample received, such as:
  • Isolating and purifying DNA/RNA
  • Cultivating, identifying, typing, and detecting microorganisms
  • Preparing and purifying Sanger Sequencing, Next Generation Sequencing, fragment analysis reactions, and (RT-)PCR reactions
  • Analyzing data and preparing analysis reports
  • Supporting and contributing ideas to the continuous improvement of our quality and work processes
  • In addition, there is the opportunity to take on an extra role or responsibility, such as coordinating lab operations or quality management, serving as a company emergency response officer (BHV), or acting as an internal auditor
Who are you?

To ensure a good match, we kindly ask that you only apply if you meet the following essential criteria:

  • You have a completed MLO or HLO degree
  • You have a minimum of 2+ years working experience in a similar role
  • You have experience working in compliance with quality systems (ISO 17025, ISO 27001 and/or GMP) in a commercial setting
  • You have experience with PCR and RT/qPCR
  • You are based within 35 km from our Leiden office

  • You have strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and are fluent in and English. Speaking Dutch is a preference
  • You are enthusiastic, precise, flexible, and have a hands-on, can-do mentality.
  • You perform well under deadline pressure, are result-oriented, and can work both independently and as part of a team.
