Group Legal and Compliance Counsel

Raxio Group is a platform investing in and building state‐of‐the‐art Tier III data centres across Africa. Through its investments and hands‐on approach, Raxio seeks to address the latent demand for critical data centre infrastructure that will drive digital transformation across the Region. Raxio established and developed state‐of‐the‐art "metro‐edge" facilities in Uganda, Ethiopia, DRC, Côte d'Ivoire, Mozambique, and Angola, where it will be building similar facilities with further investments planned across Africa. Raxio currently counts on about 150 professionals across different offices in Amsterdam, Dubai, Kampala, Addis, Maputo, Abidjan, Kinshasa and Luanda. About the Role The Group Legal Counsel provides proactive legal and compliance leadership across Raxio Group's multi‐jurisdictional operations, ensuring robust governance frameworks, standardized legal processes, and strategic risk mitigation. The role also ensures that all business activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, while actively supporting the development of the Legal & Compliance function through the implementation of processes, templates, and policies. What you'll do Responsible for all legal and compliance matters of the Group, ensuring and assist the head of legal and compliance on legal questions involving the group. The scope of responsibility is at group levels for all Legal and Compliance related tasks. Corporate Duties/Governance Responsibilities Assist the Head of Legal in supporting board communications, approvals and documentation. Ensure legal compliance and adherence to corporate governance standards. Draft resolutions and keep record of company decisions. Advise on general corporate law matters and governance. Compliance & Organization Responsibilities Support the Head of Legal Department in creating, directing, and motivating a functional Legal and Compliance department. Contribute to the design and rollout of compliance programs, internal policies, and training. Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across the Group. Contract review and negotiations Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements with clients and supplier's contracts, and other legal documents to protect and uphold the company's legal rights. Draft, review, and negotiate finance‐related agreements and key corporate documents. Stakeholder Collaboration Provide legal guidance to cross‐functional teams including HR, Finance, Procurement, HSSE, and Risk. Work closely with local counsels for country‐specific legal matters. Collaborate with Finance on strategic projects involving shareholders and lenders. Coordinate any additional relevant tasks required by the company from time to time. Education and Experience At least 5 years of work experience in a similar role (legal counsel) within a reputable institution. Professional experience in both law firm and in‐house environment is an advantage. Background in data center industry, telecom or infrastructure sector is preferred. Demonstrated ability in analytical reasoning, strategic problem solving, and innovative thinking. Skills Required Excellent written, verbal, and numerical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. Strong attention to detail and unwavering integrity and confidentiality. Diplomatic, pragmatic approach with the ability to collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders and challenge constructively when needed. Ability to work under pressure and manage multitask with accuracy. Fluent in English. Knowledge of Portuguese is a plus. This position will be based at our Headquarters in the Netherlands.
