Senior Engineer

Overview As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you work directly with Dutch clients to turn business needs into technical solutions. You will design architectures, build data-intensive applications, and guide multi-cultural teams from on-site and remote locations. The role centers on solving real client problems with measurable outcomes and strong technical leadership. You will engage with stakeholders, drive production-grade implementations, and apply modern engineering practices in challenging environments. This is a hands-on, client-facing position at the intersection of business and technology, with a clear impact through delivery. Verantwoordelijkheden Understand client challenges and define technical approaches Design architectures and review production code Build data-intensive systems, APIs, services, pipelines or distributed apps Lead technical discussions and explain trade-offs to senior stakeholders Direct coding agents through data engineering work Apply CI/CD, testing, observability, security, IAM, and operations practices Reason about end-to-end systems and remove blockers Enable distributed, multicultural teams to deliver effectively Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences at client sites in the Netherlands Belangrijkste vereisten Data software engineering experience Experience designing/building data-intensive systems, APIs, services, pipelines or distributed apps Experience with at least one major cloud platform (GCP, Azure or AWS) Understanding of modern engineering practices (CI/CD, observability, security, IAM, production ops) Experience directing coding agents in data engineering Knowledge of full data lifecycle (ingestion, modeling, transformation, quality, governance, consumption) Experience using modern AI coding tools or agents with safe usage and validation Experience working directly with clients and stakeholders Ability to drive incomplete problems toward working solutions Dutch language proficiency for engagements with Dutch public-sector or local enterprises Experience designing/deploying GenAI/LLM applications and tool use Familiarity with Databricks or comparable data platforms Experience with containers, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code Experience in regulated environments (finance, government, healthcare, critical infrastructure) Experience leading workshops or technical client engagements Experience mentoring engineers or leading distributed teams Experience creating reusable engineering assets or internal platforms Clear communication Client-facing collaboration Leadership and mentorship Data engineering Architecture design Cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure)
