Are you ready to contribute to the future of Aerospace coatings? As a Researcher I at AkzoNobel, you’ll be at the heart of developing, executing, and analyzing experiments that support recipe maintenance and innovation within Aerospace coatings. You’ll work on cutting-edge projects, using advanced research methodologies to optimize processes and deliver impactful solutions. Responsibilities:

Deliver results on time for small projects, ensuring quality and feasibility according to business needs. Correctly apply and use methodologies, tools, and systems within the R&D framework. Protect AkzoNobel technologies through rigorous research and development practices. Provide functional guidance to Specialists and Technicians in the team. Maintain and promote a safe work environment, adhering to all safety policies and procedures. Plan, execute, analyze, interpret, and report experiments within R&D, communicating findings to stakeholders. Utilize statistical experimental design to optimize research outcomes. Identify and implement process optimizations and technical solutions within Aerospace coatings. Stay current on and improve relevant research methods, ensuring knowledge retention through reports and literature. Participate in projects, ensuring the timely execution and delivery of technical results. Independently communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, on project progress and results. Formulate and present solution directions, offering advice both proactively and upon request. Support colleagues with technical knowledge and contribute to their development.

What do you need to have to be successful in this role?

Academic science-based degree in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field. Typically 6-9 years of R&D experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or Typically 1-3 years of R&D experience with a Master’s Degree, or Typically 0-2 years of R&D experience with a PhD. Knowledge of paint, particularly Aerospace coatings, is an advantage. Ambition to learn, grow, and drive results, with strong self-organization skills. A team player who thrives in collaborative project environments. Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels, with the ability to represent the department to internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and institutes. Experience with or a strong affinity for providing guidance to others, with potential to grow in leadership skills. Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
