Senior Integration Engineer, FinTech

The Financial Systems team in the FinTech business unit provides technical expertise to the finance department and is responsible for supporting SAP ERP/S4HANA, SAP BI, Native HANA solutions, and many other connected external systems. We want to change the way people work with enterprise systems, by building an application platform that supports simplification of business processes and empowers the finance community with better integrations and financial insights.

As a Senior Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing technology that enable, integrates and extend solutions on the integration of business processes across disparate systems. Lead & propose good and reliable designs about integration patterns and write well maintained technical specifications. This role involves active hands-on development and daily interaction with functional specialists, other Senior and junior developers, business users, risk and security auditors, or any senior partner involved, therefore it is crucial to have a good level  business process knowledge, some understanding of financial processes, and strong verbal and written communication skills. It should have the ability of influencing partners towards a valuable integration solution that brings value to our company.  Help to train and grow junior colleagues. Learn and share knowledge of new technologies.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Lead, monitor and improve, technical design of business requirements on integration context and implement them in line with existing standards and system architecture
• Support business and partners with implementing an innovative solution in our integration platform using compliant methodologies and technologies
• Build scalable interfaces co-operating with internal or external teams
• Build test options for solutions, using Booking.com's test methodology and tools
• Create, keep up-to-date and review technical documentations to guide internal and external users, publish them on Booking's forums and internal Wiki’s
• Implement changes, bug fixes and new functionalities based on business requirements
• Convert partners’ requirements into technical specification
• Contribute in 2nd-, and 3rd line of technical support activities
• Contribute to the team spirit by encourage the willingness for new solutions, continuous learning and innovation
• Learn new technologies and build innovative solutions
• Optimize and redesign old functions, applying new technology trends to improve business processes using SAP best practices
• Share knowledge with other colleagues
• Improve and propose best practices, enterprise architecture standards, and reusable integration patterns.
• Ability to take fast decisions in a very dynamic environment, with some level of uncertainty
• Driving and leading architecture design discussions and actively documenting them.
• Build template solutions on complex integration cases and mentor other team members to follow the best approach.
• Maintaining and supporting existing integration interfaces.
• Create technical design and actual implementation of solutions.
• Continuously monitor and propose improvements and innovations in our integration landscape.

Role Qualifications and Requirements:

• Min 5+ years of experience in the IT industry. 3+ full implementation cycle in integration area.
• Good understanding of concepts such as EDA, MOA, SOA, SOAP,  REST APIs, RESTful, RPC/RFC, event streams such as Kafka and different integration patterns.
• Strong development experience Important to have JAVA/J2EE proven experience and build tools like Maven
• Integration platform experience with Mule 4.x
• Ideally have experience on new Java 17th Mulesoft version, or migration from Java 8th to Java 17th Mule release
• Exposure to a variety of enterprise architectures from a large monolithic architecture to hybrid landscapes consisting of distributed systems and microservices and event
• driven architectures.
• Experience of API led design using RAML/OAS and experience of supporting APIs through the full API lifecycle
• Experience with system observability is a plus (Graphite, Grafana etc.)
• Other Integration platform experience, especially Convergent mediation or Solace event driven integration is a plus.
• Experience with Apigee is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills
• Organized, flexible, proactive, and result-oriented.
• Able to coach, mentor and train junior team members
• Being a team player is a must
