Are you ready to contribute to cutting-edge automotive technology? We are seeking a passionate and highly skilled experienced Embedded Software Tech Lead with a strong background in automotive software architecture to join our team at DAF Embedded Engineering.

As a Software Tech Lead, you will play a pivotal role in our software engineering team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide technical leadership by leading and managing the software development process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and reliable software solutions for our automotive projects.
You will oversee the Software Development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to design, implementation, integration & build and documentation within an agile environment.
 
Responsibilities: 

Take the technical lead and motivate a team of software developers, providing technical guidance and mentorship to ensure successful project execution; Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, system architects, and project managers, to define software requirements and develop robust software solutions for automotive applications; Drive the software architecture design process, considering performance, scalability, and safety requirements in compliance with industry standards and regulations; Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and quality guidelines; Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design to implementation, testing, and deployment; Identify and mitigate technical risks, proactively solving challenges to meet project deadlines and quality expectations; Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities to enhance software development processes and tools; Collaborate with stakeholders to define project milestones, deliverables, and resource allocation, ensuring project success within budget and timelines; Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team; Take initiative and leading the process of refactoring legacy software.

Your profile

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required for this role. The candidate should also have proven experience as a Software Tech Lead or in a similar role, with a specific focus on automotive software development. Additionally, a strong expertise in software architecture design, particularly for embedded systems in the automotive industry, is highly valued.

In addition:

Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and experience with software development tools (IDEs, debuggers, etc.); In-depth knowledge of automotive software development processes, standards, and regulations AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, ISO21434, UNR155/156); Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and related software frameworks; Experience working with functional safety and cybersecurity concepts and standards ISO 26262 and ISO21434) is highly desirable; Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team towards successful project delivery; Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen attention to detail; Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Department

You will be part of an experienced international team of the Application Software Department of DAF Embedded Engineering which is primary located in Eindhoven, the Netherlands and has an office in Pune, India. Embedded Engineering works closely together with PACCAR Embedded Engineering located in Renton (near Seattle), the USA.
 
With over 190 highly skilled people today, we deliver world class engineering in the domains of engine control and vehicle control. Our full model-based software development process is unique in the industry. 
Next to that, focusing on common development, Embedded Engineering works closely together with PACCAR Embedded Engineering US located in Mount Vernon, Kirkland and Lewisville (Tx).
The products developed within Embedded Engineering are applied on DAF trucks but also in the PACCAR brands Kenworth and Peterbilt. Through component sales our products are used by leading bus and coach manufacturers. We are looking for experienced candidates to support our Software Development Team in Eindhoven, which currently consists of over 50 software engineers.
