Job Description
Play an instrumental role in further building the capability and scope of the Design Quality Engineering (DQE) team As a group leader you will lead a team of over 20 Quality and Reliability consultants/professionals and support all Philips sectors globally as well as playing an instrumental role in further shaping the DfSS/DMAIC and Requirement Engineering programs within Philips globally. You will be leading a growing team of 20 highly skilled technical specialists, driving world-class System Quality engineering activities for a wide array of products and systems in the areas Healthcare, High Tech systems and Medical Devices. There is a great deal of freedom involved in this position, there is a lot of depth in it, and the role is very dynamic.
Your role:
You will be a member of the Management Team of the department and determine, in consultation with this Management Team, the group’s objectives, policies, processes and budgets on short and long term, makes sure that the organization can meet the objectives and ensures that the roles and responsibilities are put in place.
You will be responsible for the development of services propositions, competences and infrastructure in the group, as well as for maintaining and improving the group’s knowledge and expertise.
You will collaborate globally with Philips R&D centers, innovation excellence programs and the business and establishes a network with relevant stakeholders and actively participates (with group) in expert networks both within Philips and externally in own professional field.
Ensuring appropriate personnel management practices regarding recruitment and selection, adequate staffing, remuneration, performance appraisals, education and training, and management development policy.
Ensuring the group’s output and performance is in line with innovation partner expectations (both short-term and long-term).
Thinking out of the box, seeing the bigger picture, creating long term vision and strategy, both for the own group and for key contribution (with respect to his own professional field) to the business.
Participating actively together with your team to support customers.
Providing acquisition support: Within the group, build-up and maintain relations with existing innovation partners and identify business opportunities.
Your team
The main location of Philips Innovation Engineering is located on the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven (the Netherlands). Other locations are in Drachten (the Netherlands), Pune/Bangalore (India), China and Cambridge (US).
You will be joining a team with over 1500 technology specialists, designers, project managers and consultants who have decades of experience in supporting customers both inside and outside Philips - from major companies in markets such as semiconductor industry and healthcare to highly innovative start-ups.
The Quality and Reliability Engineering (QRE) department within Philips Innovation Engineering is a dynamic team of well over 150 engineers and consultants divided in multiple competence groups in the field of Electronic Design Services (EDS), Test and Verification Engineering (TVE), Design Quality Engineering (DQE), Reliability Availability and Maintainability engineering (RAM), and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE).
Your group Design Quality Engineering (DQE) consist of about 20 highly skilled technical specialists. It is a very divers and international team where there is a lot to learn from each other. Your customers are both internal Philips businesses as well as external companies. You report directly to the Department Head and manage the group.
You’re the right fit if:
You have a MSc /PhD degree in a relevant area of expertise like Physics, Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
You have experience in building and leading global impactful teams, you have experience as a people manager, leading a team of at least 10 people
You have proven ability in motivating highly skilled technical specialists
You have deep expertise within the field of Product Development and innovation (e.g. DfSS Black Belt)
You have experience to actively build and leverage your network (multi-level) within various subject areas including innovation teams, regulatory affairs, manufacturing units, internal and external Philips;
You have experience in customer focused (preferably global) organizations, preferably medical device companies
You are an entrepreneurial demeanor to take ownership, make decisions and establish improvements and results
You are able being a role model: ability to stimulate, encourage and empathize
