About the team and the role:

We are searching for a seasoned Android Developer and Team Lead to spearhead our mobile development initiatives at our dynamic company. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of advanced Android applications, while also managing a team of talented developers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Android development, a deep understanding of mobile application architecture, and a strong track record of successful project leadership

What you will accomplish:

Lead the development and implementation of complex Android applications, ensuring dedication, quality, and responsiveness of the applications.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other developers, to define app features, architecture, and technology stack.

Collaborate with other eBay iOS and mobile engineering teams on common components, and cross domain functionality.

Oversee and write high-quality, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices and industry standards.

Oversee and write the testing and debugging of applications to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.

Keep up-to-date with the latest Android development trends and technologies, actively fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the team.

Conduct code reviews, provide mentorship, and offer constructive feedback to team members to foster professional growth and maintain high standards.

Lead the resolution of complex technical issues and challenges reported by users or identified during testing.

Develop and maintain comprehensive app documentation, including architecture diagrams and API specifications.

What you will bring:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

7+ years of experience in Android development, with a strong portfolio of sophisticated, widely-used apps.

Expertise in Kotlin and Java, and extensive experience with Android SDK, Android Studio, Jetpack Compose and other relevant frameworks.

In-depth knowledge of RESTful APIs and JSON to connect Android applications to back-end services.

Solid understanding of Google's Android design principles and interface guidelines.

Experience with cloud message APIs, push notifications, and mobile analytics.

Proficiency with version control tools such as Git, and familiarity with CI/CD practices.

Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strategic thinking capabilities.

Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in leading development teams and mentoring junior developers.

Strong familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Working with GraphQL based services

Experience in e-commerce or similar high-traffic, consumer-facing applications.
