Position overview

As a Senior Technician / Chemist, you will play a critical role in supporting new product development and addressing production challenges. Reporting to the Synthesis Manager, your primary responsibilities will include independently planning and executing resin syntheses, with a focus on addition polymerization and polycondensation processes.

You will be tasked with synthesizing various synthetic resins, followed by their thorough characterization and testing using a range of established systems, test methods, regulations, and procedures. Your experimental findings will be meticulously documented and presented to the project leader for further analysis and discussion. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to research and development.

Responsibilities
  • Execute projects related to the development and modification of water-based and solvent-based resins, ensuring alignment with R&D goals and meeting customer requests.
  • Provide technical support and resolve issues raised by production departments, focusing on process optimization and product quality.
  • Address inquiries from the purchasing department and quality control laboratory concerning new raw materials, alternative suppliers, and out-of-specification raw materials, serving as the designated raw material owner.
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment and instruments to ensure optimal performance and accuracy in all project-related activities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on specific technologies or chemistries, contributing to knowledge transfer and training initiatives for international colleagues within the organization.
Required skills and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (HBO level) or equivalent education.
  • Strong affinity with organic and/or polymer chemistry.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and common software applications.
  • Knowledge of quality, safety, and environmental regulations (SHEQ).
  • Proficient in both Dutch and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
