Technician in the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole, School of Public Health (Ref.: 524329) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in science, biology, medical science or related disciplines, with at least 5 years of laboratory experience in cell and virus culture in eggs and cells, virology, and molecular biology techniques. They must be familiar with cloning, influenza virus reverse-genetics system, virus purification techniques, various protein extraction and characterization techniques and in generating stable cell lines. Supervisory and laboratory management experiences are essential. They must have a good command of written and spoken English. They should also be a self-motivated and organized team player. Qualifications in laboratory safety are desired.
The appointee will work in the laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Wong Sook-San to study immunity to influenza and other respiratory viruses. He/She will manage and maintain the operations of the laboratory, conduct experiments, assist in training new members, and perform other duties as assigned.
