Business Unit Description

As the ‘home of unique offerings’ within SABIC, the Specialties Strategic Business Unit is focused on challenging technology endeavors that positively impact the way the world travels, communicates, works and lives. This SBU produces a wide range of specialty resins and compounds, including high heat resins, LNP compounds and copolymers and NORYL resins. 

 

Department

The LNP and NORYL Technology team is responsible for developing new and differentiated solutions for the customer challenges of today and tomorrow, responding to longer term global megatrends and the short term needs from our customers. We collaborate closely with the Business and Commercial organizations, and frequently work directly with our customers to drive new Innovation Efforts and deploying strategic initiatives to support regional and global growth.

 

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

To support our continuous product innovation efforts, driven by and executed within the team, we are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and energetic Junior Product Technician who enjoys working in a cross-functional and dynamic environment. Main activities of the technician will be:

  • Commit to an uncompromising environment with respect to safety and compliance, and where applicable actively contribute to safety programs within the organization.
  • Provide practical support to projects and project teams with compounding, molding and special testing, as well as logistics. The expectation is to spend a significant part of the working time on the lab.
  • Contribute to new idea generation and the practical validation jointly with colleagues.
  • Independently setup, execute, analyze and report out work and results towards requesters within and outside team. This includes setting up work requests for self and for shifts team, utilizing statistical tools on consistent base, and documenting results in memos and reports.
  • Own and deliver well on personal planning for multiple simultaneous projects, considering personal and team priorities.

 

Your profile

  • BSc degree in relevant field, e.g. Chemistry, Polymer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.
  • An all-round technician that can support (and in future lead) activities to produce and test products and parts. Relevant practical and theoretical experience is considered a pre.
  • Capable to multi-task and deliver per plan on multiple programs, taking the responsibility for own planning and prioritization.
  • A team player with a hands-on mentality and a positive and solution focused mindset.
  • Well able to work independently on their own initiatives to drive ideas and activities forward, and asking help where needed.
  • Able to handle ambiguity and to flexibly adjust to last minute changes of priorities and needs that occur in the dynamic world of Specialty Compounding.
  • A strong communicator that enjoys working in a diverse team, and has strong verbal and writing skills in the English language.
