About Thales

In the Netherlands, where more than 2200 employees are based, we are located in four cities: Huizen, Delft, Eindhoven and Hengelo (HQ). Together with an extensive ecosystem of knowledge partners, customers and suppliers, we work on radars for naval vessels, cyber security solutions, transportation systems, communication equipment for land forces, cryogenic cooling solutions and research & development for radar tech (in collaboration with TU Delft).

 
The assignment is done as part of the Electro-Optical (EO) team in the System Engineering department. The EO-team is responsible for analyzing customer requirements regarding EO-systems and translate these to product requirements and functions. In addition, the team is involved with the necessary R&D activities to meet these requirements.

About the assignment

In earlier projects we have researched deep learning based approaches to various image processing problems relevant for our products, in particular semantic segmentation, re-identification, low-light image enhancement, image denoising and object classification.

We are now looking for students to continue the work on one of these problems. This can be either more research-oriented or implementation-oriented. For a research-oriented project, you will be looking into alternative approaches for one of the before-mentioned topics. For an implementation-oriented project you will be working on optimal implementation and deployment options for those machine learning models suitable for real-time application in our systems. We can thus tailor and define the project depending on your field of study, preferences and requirements for the internship project.

This assignment is also suitable for a team of two students.
