Job Summary

The Red Hat EMEA OpenShift Virtualisation focus team is looking for an experienced VMware Specialist Solutions Architect to join our OpenShift Virtualization team based in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium or Poland.

This is a unique opportunity to evolve your virtualization skills and experience with the latest and leading cloud-native technologies and ways of working with modern infrastructure and application platforms. 

As a VMware Specialist Solutions Architect for OpenShift Virtualization in EMEA your role will be to build a relationship of trust and confidence between Red Hat and the customer's architecture, development, and operations teams. 

In this role, you will promote the adoption and supported deployment of our Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization platform solutions in key enterprise accounts, government agencies, and service provider partners. You'll work with customers both on-site and remotely to gain an understanding of their business needs and align them with OpenShift Virtualization. In conjunction with Red Hat’s ISVs and system integrators, you will also design and deliver evaluations, proofs of concepts, and pilots of our offerings, and you'll play a crucial role in bringing together internal cross-functional teams to satisfy our most challenging customers. As a Specialist Solutions Architect, you will act as the customer's advocate to architect the best solution and ensure it is implemented and supported innovatively and reliably. We'll need you to have an excellent working knowledge of cloud architectures and virtualization, their supporting infrastructures and associated tools and technologies.

What you will do

Use your extensive VMware knowledge to advise customers on how to best set up and migrate workloads from an existing VMware installation to OpenShift Virtualization, pertaining to infrastructure, storage, networking and ancillary 3rd-party ISV solutions, such as backup, DR, replication, etc.

Deliver successful OpenShift Virtualization workshops for small to medium teams of both technical and non-technical backgrounds that shape the customer's use cases, and architect design decisions

Scope evaluations and guide customers through successful proofs of concepts and pilot deployments with local regional teams that increase customers' confidence in our offerings

Design, create, and deliver content that enables Red Hat to sell, service, and support our OpenShift Virtualization platform at scale

Work closely with internal product teams, Product Engineering, Professional Services, Global Support, and Sales to ensure a world-class customer experience with Red Hat solutions

Act as the trusted subject matter expert for the customer, building long-lasting relationships within our key accounts

Contribute to the development of repeatable methodologies and tools designed to scale Red Hat's services capabilities, promote repeatable customer engagements, and lower delivery risk

Demonstrate thought leadership in cloud-based Virtualization platforms by producing world-class whitepapers, webinars, etc., and speaking at industry-leading conferences

Experience in sales engineering, consulting, IT architecture, or equivalent in supporting large organizations.

Excellent communication, presentation, documentation and problem-solving skills.

Positive team player attitude and a strong desire to make our customers successful.Ability to understand customers' challenges, requirements and technical issues and collaborate to address those with the appropriate technologies and solutions.

What you will bring

Knowledge of Linux or UNIX operating systems, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), or a RHEL derivative, as well as related technologies.

Knowledge of virtualization technologies for application deployment and operations like VMware vSphere, KVM, etc.

Knowledge of cloud Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) technologies like Red Hat OpenShift or related experience with Kubernetes deployments.

Familiarity with the design and operation of medium to large-scale enterprise and cloud infrastructures

Good knowledge and experience of the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) stack

Good knowledge and experience of the vCloud Director (vCD)

Experience with Capacity planning and sizing methodologies for VMware virtualization solutions

Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English

Willingness to travel within the EMEA geo up to 30 %

One or more of the following is a plus

Proven technical implementation and design experience in any of the following technical specialisations, with recognised certifications where available:

Storage

Cloud management & automation

Disaster recovery

Security

Windows & AD

Some experience working with developers, the SDLC, pipelines CI/CD and GitOps

Experience or certification with any public cloud provider

Any VMware certification

Any Red Hat certification.
