Company Information
The Company’s main activities are the design, supply, installation, and operation of Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels. These are either owned and operated by SBM Offshore and leased to its clients or supplied on a turnkey sale basis. Other products and services include: FLNGs, turret mooring systems, brownfield, offshore loading terminals and most recently solutions for renewable energy. With an operating fleet of 14 FPSOs, two FSOs, one semi-submersible in operation worldwide at year end and almost 300 years of cumulative FPSO operational experience within the industry, the Company is a market leader in providing leased production floating systems.
With its Head Office in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, SBM Offshore employs more than 5000 people and are spread over seven locations, nine operational shore bases, the offshore fleet of vessels and joint venture construction yards.
The Department
The Process Safety Team within the Operations Quality Regulatory and HSSE Team is responsible for coordinating activities around the SBM Offshore Hazards and effects Management Process (HEMP) and delivery of Safety Cases.
The Role
The Role of Process Safety and Safety Case Engineer (PSSCE) is within the OPS PSM Team and will work across all sections of project execution. The PSSCE is responsible for ensuring that SBM Offshore’s HEMP is followed and Major Accident Hazards reduced As Low As Reasonably Practicable. It is an expectation to be able to provide engineering, supply chain, construction and other departments with guidance on current best practice risk management. Core competencies include:
Lifecycle hazard management Hazard and risk workshop facilitation Inherently Safer Design philosophy knowledge Barrier based risk management (including): Identification of Safety and Environmental Critical Equipment and Tasks Functional Task Analysis and Safety and Environmental Critical Task Analysis Development and assurance of Performance Standards Safety Case development Offshore Project Execution from early-phase design to late-phase assurance General management and interpersonal skills – able to manage people outside of their organizational team.Requirements
SBM Offshore is looking for applicants with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering (or a related field) with relevant experience in O&G or Petrochemical Industry. Previous experience in Process Safety Engineering or Human Factors in Barrier Management is required.

A self- starter who possesses good interpersonal and organizational skills Innovative and collaborative nature Good time management skills Flexible and adaptable to balance different stakeholders Fluent in English (both written and verbally) and a strong communicator in developing presentations and training materials for both internal and external audiences Willingness to travel as international business travels may be required.Employment conditions
