About the job
You will be teaching in our Games bachelor’s programme, specifically the Visual Arts students. As our education is project based and linked to the industry, the emphasis of lecturing lies on guiding and supervising our students in order to learn and grow as professionals. In addition, you will be coaching students in the Games lab and Master’s program, supervise internships and graduation projects. Courses you will teach depend on your skillset and previous experience.

Developing course content, curriculum innovation as well as using your professional network to create strategic partnerships with national and international industry partners is also part of the job.

You will closely collaborate with a small team of industry veterans and fellow lecturers while having the freedom to perform your role as you see fit. In this position, you get the opportunity to guide and support smart, highly committed and creative people in the process of becoming leading specialists in designing the next AAA games.

What do we offer?

The salary for this position amounts to a monthly minimum of € 4,234.28 and a monthly maximum of € 5,936.77 (gross amounts based on full-time employment); This position is classified in scale 11 of the cao-hbo (collective labour agreement); This job involves a temporary position due to illness and therefore you will be appointed for 6 months; Your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed if you travel by public transport; You will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and an 8% holiday allowance; You will receive compensation for health insurance; You will also be awarded professional development hours every year and approximately eleven weeks of holiday entitlements for a full-time position; You will be working on a green, sustainable campus near the city centre of Breda; Moving from abroad to Breda in the Netherlands? We provide support and financial compensation in the case of relocation and settling-in in the Netherlands. Dutch tax authorities may offer tax reduction to applicants from abroad (which makes tax rates comparable to the UK and US).

What do we ask of you?

You have a broad and proven track record in Visual Arts within the Games and VFX industry and/or education;  You have a master’s degree or are willing to commit to master’s degree programme after you join us. In this case, we will offer you our full support in obtaining your degree; You have teaching experience or are willing to take didactical training;  You are a great team player and have an affinity in working with young professionals in the making; You have a thorough understanding of and proven track record/ recent experience with visual development, animation and/ or real-time art pipeline;  You have hands-on experience with tools like Unreal, Unity, Maya or proprietary game development tools;  You have experience working on commercial game development projects with a focus on Visual Arts;  You will be working in an international and intercultural setting. Therefore, having excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is a necessity.
