Tenure-Track Clinical Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Faculty of Dentistry

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Clinical Assistant Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: 524304), to commence as soon as possible, on a four-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second four-year fixed-term contract.
The Faculty of Dentistry is the only dental school in Hong Kong and the only one in Greater China that uses English as the medium of instruction. The high quality of the Faculty’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, research excellence and clinical/professional services have attained global recognition, as evidenced by the Faculty’s global rankings among the top 1% by the QS World University Rankings by Subject in the past nine years. The Faculty’s strategic research themes include Clinical Artificial Intelligence, Craniofacial Regeneration, Microbiome Innovation, Oral Cancer, and Population Oral Health. The Faculty also plays an important role in public and professional education through its knowledge exchange (KE) activities as well as in oral health research and promotions in international, regional and local communities.
The Faculty is seeking academic clinicians with a strong background in patient care and research in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Applicants should possess a dental or medical Bachelor's degree or equivalent; and a Master of Dental Surgery degree or equivalent in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. They should also have (i) a strong background in dentoalveolar, dental implant, and/or TMJ surgery; (ii) ability in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching and practice; (iii) potential for and interest in research; (iv) ability and willingness to participate in Faculty affairs; and (v) participation in KE activities.
The appointee is expected to teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate level; engage in clinical practice with a focus on dentoalveolar, dental implant, and/or TMJ surgery; and conduct independent research.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing subsidy will also be provided as applicable.
