What are you going to do?
You will join the Assortment & Display Planning Team (A&DP) playing a pivotal role in the Commercial Team within MediaMarkt. The A&DP Team consists of experienced managers who exploit and develop their knowledge and skills, prioritizing the strategic role of category management at MediaMarkt. You will work together with key stakeholders like Category Management, Digital, Stores, Analytics and Forecast and Replenishment teams to maximize our assortment offer, to ensure product availability and drive excellent customer experience.
The A&DP Team develops frameworks and guidelines for strategical category planning, assortment selection and the display of assortment- & supplier elements. You take data driven decision by utilizing and analyzing different data sources on customers, shoppers, market, category and on- & offline channels for category optimization, new product introductions and to increase the sales of MediaMarkts' own brands. Your key responsibilities are:
To ensure definition of category strategies, in line with category roles and set targets. You will actively participate in the category strategy formulation process with the (Senior) Category Managers and you will jointly engage with key suppliers where necessary to understand trends and developments. You will translate the components of the category strategy into actions required to reach financial targets into performance support and will follow-up with category mangers; You take care of the development and implementation of category management standards in category teams. You support in preparation of category analysis and support Category Managers in actions stemming from the tradeplan process – promo planning, own brands; To prepare, track and monitor category performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and market data. To identify areas of improvement, potential risks, and opportunities within the category and you will provide recommendations to category management for optimization on key dimensions such as sales, market, customer, supplier, income, and assortment for all channels, to empower data driven decision making; You're cccountable for adherence to category management frameworks, and you're responsible for requirement development of frameworks (. in freeze/unfreeze processes). These include (but are not limited to) assortment- and supplier frameworks, strategic assortment, Own Brands, BetterWay, show-no-go, potential performers. Provides feedback on article selection based on the category and supplier sales planning according to the category strategy; To support structural management of phase-in and phase-out of products in collaboration with category management and F&R, including SNG; Ensuring the correct flagging of products is executed in the teams in line with existing guidelines, and the correctness of minimum and maximum definitions; To ensure display and fullness standards in the stores are analyzed and follow up definition and maintenance for the categories by category management. You collaborate with Forecast and Replenishment to assure these standards are effectuated to operational replenishment in core systems. You will support development of POS and content propositions by category managers to improve customer journey in all channels; To review store floor plans on adherence to frameworks and category strategies in new store openings, modernizations and department flows. To develop and maintain practical and hands-on tools and processes to support day-to-day decision making and ensure uniformity. Last but not least, it's you overseeing governance and quality checks for core processes.
Who are you?
7+ year of work experience in Commercial roles, especially in Category Management, Merchandising Multi-channel retail experience in Digital and Stores Customer centric mindset Planner & Problem solver Analytical skills: combining strategic helicopter view with the ability to zoom in operationally Strategic Thinker Pragmatic and hands-on Can-Do Mentality Result Driven Stakeholder Management Strong communication and analytical skills, with the capacity to operate both strategically and in a detail-oriented manners
