About the role

This is a mid-level Claims position, based in Hoofddorp (Netherlands), responsible for the professional handling of a varied portfolio of Casualty and Property claims primarily on the Dutch and Belgian markets, as lead or co-insurer, requiring technical coverage evaluation and exposure analysis, where the objective is proactive investigation and evaluation, fair resolution, and the delivery of exceptional customer service. The position reports into the Head of Claims for Benelux and Nordics.

You will be part of a passionate team in which claims is considered an integral part of the sales force. The Benelux and Nordics team has been growing rapidly and has a customer base that is growing fast as well, solidifying SRCS' position as a global player in the primary insurance market. The Benelux team is part of the larger Benelux and Nordics team that works closely together in achieving the desired growth and in doing so benefits from the vast combined experience of all the team members.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver the highest quality claim handling and customer service consistent with the SRCS Claim Commitment and Claim Handling Guidelines. Handle claims of varying severity within defined authority including, coverage review, fact investigation, loss evaluation, and designing and completing an appropriate claim resolution strategy. Set and maintain appropriate and timely indemnity and expense reserves. Select, direct, and lead external experts and vendors, including working with experts to set appropriate budgets and effectively run costs. Select and handle outside attorneys, where needed, including working with attorneys to set appropriate resolution strategy and budget and proactively manage costs. Regularly and actively engage with our customers for claims meetings, loss scenario workshops and claim evaluations Regularly provide concrete Claims input to internal stakeholders. Assist Underwriting and others with contractual wording and risk assessments. Keep Claim Management and Internal Stakeholders aware of loss potential and material claim developments, consistent with the Claims Handling Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures. Provide accurate information and data for Claims' reporting. Align with internal governance, legal and regulatory requirements. Proactive diary management. Regular Claims and Insurance Industry training/education, including obtaining applicable insurance certifications/designations and licensure. Participate in regional and global projects.

About you

Educated to degree level. 3-5 years Claims or Insurance Industry experience. Fluent in Dutch. Proficient English language skills. A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and a desire to help grow the business. Strong communication (written and verbal) and people skills. A desire to learn and develop as a person and an insurance professional. Curious, energetic, proactive, analytical, problem-solver, diligent, honest and transparent. Organizational and time management skills, focused, agile, self-motivated and good judgment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Solid coverage, investigation, loss evaluation and claim valuation skills. Solid negotiation skills with a desire to continue development of these skills. Ability to engage and manage external experts, including proactive cost management. Solid litigation and outside attorney management skills. Solid understanding of underwriting and insurance functions. Good presentation skills.
