Job description
As a paediatric dentist, you are the expert in the field of special dental care for children at the CBT. You perform dental treatments on children with special care needs, both in the dental chair and under general anaesthesia. Creating a safe and trusted environment for children during treatment is paramount. You work in a challenging multidisciplinary environment, collaborating closely with your dental colleagues in a UMCG-wide treatment team. With your entrepreneurial and organisational skills, you shape paediatric dentistry within our CBT and connect it with other specialisations.
Working environment
The Special Dental Care Center (CBT), part of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (MKA) at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), is an educational center for the specialisations of Maxillofacial Prosthodontics and Dentistry for the Disabled. The staff team currently consists of five staff members and four trainees. The CBT treats over 1,000 new patients annually and has approximately 3,700 registered patients. In addition to primary patient care, the CBT contributes to scientific research, education, and training.
As a paediatric dentist, you will be responsible for providing specialised dental care to children with special dental needs, that are referred to the CBT.
What do we need
As a motivated and knowledgeable paediatric dentist, you have completed dental school and a specialisation in Pedodontics. You have extensive experience in treating children with special care needs. You have strong communication skills and empathy, allowing you to provide clear and understandable information to parents/caregivers regarding oral health and preventive measures. You are a team player capable of working in a multidisciplinary treatment team. Naturally, you are registered in the BIG register and knowledgeable about relevant laws and regulations.
The UMCG has a preventive Hepatitis B policy. The UMCG can provide you with the vaccination, should it be required for your position.
In case of specific professions a ‘Certificate of Good Conduct’ is required.
What do we offer
As a paediatric dentist at the Special Dental Care Center of the UMCG, we offer you a challenging and diverse position within a professional staff team that prioritises atmosphere and collaboration. You will have opportunities for personal development and specialisation.
We offer a permanent position for 10 – 28 hours a week (0.3 – 0.8 fte) with a competitive salary offer.
Additionally, the UMCG offers excellent fringe benefits and various schemes and regulations to promote a good work/life balance, such as 8% holiday allowance, 8.3% end of year bonus, 168 holiday hours on a fulltime basis and a solid pension scheme, with the ABP, of which we pay 70% of the contribution. The UMCG also offers attractive facilities e.g., the option to purchase extra leave hours and use fiscal arrangements such as the bicycle plan and corporate fitness plan. The employment conditions comply with the Collective Labour Agreement for University Medical Centres (CAO-UMC) (CAO-UMC).
The UMCG is located within walking distance of the Grote Markt, in the middle of the bustling university city of Groningen, surrounded by its beautiful Ommelanden.
