About the Internship

As our new Advanced Technology Processing Intern, you will be part of the Concentration & Separation Team in the Advanced Technology department of Danone Nutricia Research. This team focuses on researching and developing new processes and technologies to produce new ingredients and products for the future Danone portfolio. The target of this internship project is to decrease specific mineral load in several protein rich products. You will research and evaluate different processing technologies to produce a protein ingredient within a tight specification. These processes could include membrane filtration and ion exchange and. You will start with a literature review and use the outcome of this to design your own experimental setup including work method. By executing the experimental setup, you will collect the required information to obtain a deeper understanding of the complex behavior of casein micelles and its mineral interaction which influence the product properties.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Literature research in the field of purification techniques applied for high protein products Designing your own experimental setup Executing your setup in our state of the art laboratory and pilot plant Sharing your findings and recommendations

Throughout the internship you will also develop your skills by:

Interacting and communicating with different stakeholders within Danone Nutricia Research. Interpretating findings and effectively communicating them. Working in a multicultural diverse environment.

OVER JOU

You are a Master or applied sciences student in Food Science and Technology, Food Engineering or Biotechnology, with practical laboratory experience and a strong interest in the interaction between food processing and formulations. You are hands on and able to work autonomously in a complex and fast-paced work environment, act proactively, and effectively communicate with different stakeholders (both technical and non-technical). You have strong analytical skills, creative thinking, and a ‘can do’ mindset.

Furthermore, you need to be:

You are an enrolled Master or applied science student in in Food Science and Technology, Food Engineering or Biotechnology or a relevant field (non-EU citizens are only eligible to apply if they are enrolled in a Dutch university); You are fluent in English; You can start from June for 6 months, 5 days per week (up to 5 days per week in the office R&I Utrecht depending on the stage of research and lab hours); The starting date can be discussed. Please note that you are required to relocate to the Netherlands (if abroad) for this internship and get a BSN number.
