Our client has a strong ambition to become a truly sustainable company, embedding

sustainability in all business units and daily practices.

The Global Sustainability Office (GSO) is responsible for ESG strategy & transformation and

acts as an advisory team working across all levels of the organization.

After almost three years on this journey, they are currently reshaping their global sustainability

strategy with a focus on zero carbon, circularity, well-being, and ethical business practices.

To steer and monitor progress, they are implementing portfolio management and need a strong

leader to drive this forward.

Our client is looking for an ESG Strategy & Portfolio Manager. In this role, you will partner

with and report to the Head of Corporate Sustainability, playing a critical role in shaping and

advancing Our client's sustainability agenda.

Key Focus Areas

This role is centered around three main areas:

1. Behavior & Personality


• Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to steer and manage across teams

rather than executing tasks directly.


• A proactive and strategic mindset, capable of driving ESG priorities independently.


• A close, collaborative working relationship with the Sustainability Director, acting as a

trusted advisor.

2. Extensive ESG Experience


• A holistic and wide-ranging understanding of ESG strategy and principles.


• Ability to connect ESG to business impact, aligning sustainability with corporate strategy.


• The team seeks an individual with strong ESG leadership who can bring deep expertise and

proactively lead key ESG initiatives with independent thought leadership.


• While expertise in CSRD or carbon management is not required, the focus is on broad,

strategic ESG knowledge.

3. Sustainability Portfolio Management & Change Management


• Experience in real sustainability portfolio management – working across departments to steer

and manage sustainability initiatives at an organizational level.


• Strong change management skills to drive ESG transformation across different teams.


• Leadership over execution – this role is about guiding, advising, and managing ESG strategy

across multiple stakeholders, including management and the board.


• Ability to drive ESG proactively across all levels of the business, ensuring alignment with

long-term corporate goals.

Key Responsibilities


• Serve as the strategic advisor to the Sustainability Director, leading ESG initiatives across the

organization.


• Lead and influence cross-functional ESG and sustainability initiatives, ensuring they align

with business objectives.


• Drive stakeholder engagement at all levels (management, board, steering committees,

business units).


• Translate ESG trends and regulations into actionable business strategies.


• Shape ESG governance, frameworks, and reporting across Our client.

You will work closely with colleagues responsible for execution and project management

within GSO and the business units.

While Finance leads ESG reporting and compliance, you will oversee business performance

and sustainability metrics, ensuring high-quality ESG data in collaboration with the ESG

Analytics Consultant and various data owners.

What do we expect from you?

Key Qualities & Experience

 Strategic ESG Leadership – You bring deep ESG expertise, including knowledge of ESG

reporting frameworks (e.g., CSRD, ISSB, GRI) and disclosure requirements. You guide and

inspire the organization, ensuring ESG remains a strategic priority.

 Portfolio & Program Management – Proven ability to steer and manage sustainability

initiatives across a large, complex organization. Experience with JIRA and a consultancy

background is a plus.

 Change Management & Transformation – Strong expertise in driving ESG change across

functions, integrating sustainability into business operations and leadership decisions.

 Stakeholder Management & Influence – Ability to lead, align, and influence across multiple

teams, from cross-functional departments to senior management and the board.

 Communication & Storytelling – Exceptional ability to translate sustainability strategy into

compelling narratives, tailoring messages for different levels in the organization.

 Collaboration & Team Leadership – A natural connector and facilitator, building trust across

departments, teams, and senior leaders.

 Resilience & Pragmatism – Ability to navigate challenges and drive progress despite

obstacles, keeping sustainability a top priority.

Must-have skills:

 Proven ESG expertise

 Strong program & portfolio management experience

 Change management leadership

 Influencing & communication skills

Good-to-have skills:

 Prosci ADKAR certification or equivalent change management expertise

 JIRA knowledge

 Consultancy background

What to Expect in the Hiring Process

Candidates should expect a four-round interview process:

First Round – Interview with ESG Employment

Second Round - Interview with line managers

Third Round – Interview with Steering Committee members & a business lead

Fourth Round – Interview with HR Business Partner & Global Sustainability Director

What we offer

This is a leadership role with a high level of influence, where you will make a tangible impact

on Our client's global sustainability transformation.

 Salary Range: €6,000 – €8,200 gross per month (excluding 8% holiday allowance).

 Bonus Potential: Opportunities to exceed this scale based on performance.
