This position demands the technical depth to function as a CTO, the product clarity to lead transformational initiatives, and the commitment to channel those capabilities toward unlocking student achievement at scale.At 2 Hour Learning, we have reconstructed the school model from its foundation, leveraging AI and learning science to eliminate the limitations of the traditional classroom entirely. Our students progress and excel, earning multiple 4s and 5s on AP exams and demonstrating multi-year academic gains within a single year.This is an executive-level technical product ownership role, where you will control the architecture, technical direction, and AI integration of our complete learning ecosystem. You will make technical trade-offs to keep our products efficient, scalable, and laser-focused on advancing student results, while operating with the mindset of a CTO and the velocity of a product entrepreneur.What You Will Be DoingBuild and apply comprehensive education product knowledge to inform strategic choicesCraft technical specifications that resolve critical decisions and emphasize simplicity, performance, and sustainable designDeploy generative AI solutions to automate and optimize engineering workflows, consistent with the goal of minimizing manual effortWhat You Won’t Be DoingPure people management; technical and business judgment will be the defining factors in this roleSpending your time in meetings, committees, and procedural overhead; we streamline management tasks to focus on business impactAbstract strategies without actionable implementation paths; guidance must be grounded in product-level understandingKey ResponsibilitiesServe as the CTO of one or more education products, controlling core technical capabilities and generating business value through flawless execution and strategic leadershipBasic RequirementsDeep experience or interest in data-driven learning science7+ years of experience making architecture and design decisions on software projects, such as applying architecture design patterns or significant open source technologies2+ years of experience making design decisions involving cloud computing services (primarily AWS)4+ years of experience in positions with full technical and delivery ownership on revenue-generating productsExperience building product features that make advanced use of Generative AIExperience using Generative AI to simplify work processesBase Pay Range$200.00/hr - $200.00/hrWorking with us: This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The role is immediately available and requires an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. Compensation is $200 USD/hour, equating to $400,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year.
