The Opportunity

As a Trainee/Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting Catawiki's legal team and aiding the company in achieving its ambitious growth objectives. If you have a passion for delivering top-notch support to legal counsels and enjoy working on a diverse range of legal projects, this role will offer you a platform for gaining valuable experience and insights. The legal areas you will be involved in include commercial law, contract law, compliance, privacy and data protection, artificial intelligence, and the Digital Services Act. Every day presents new and unique challenges due to the dynamic nature of the business.

This role entails a 6-month traineeship during which you will have the opportunity to enhance your skills, assist various individuals, and demonstrate qualities such as teamwork, trustworthiness, discretion, pragmatism, and sound judgement.

You will be expected to proactively propose solutions, strategies, and innovations within and beyond your sphere of influence to help the legal team meet its ambitious objectives.

The Catawiki legal team is situated at the company's headquarters in Amsterdam. Our work schedule involves a hybrid model with an average of two office days (Tuesday, Thursday) per week.

• Assisting with legal operations and managing the case management system
• Contributing to the enhancement of the contract management system and other legal or compliance tools
• Preparing internal memos on pertinent legal, regulatory, or compliance subjects
• Monitoring and providing reports on various legal dashboards
• Addressing legal queries raised by different departments
• Taking notes during regular project meetings, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met
• Developing simple training materials and legal guidelines for business stakeholders, with support from legal counsels
• Enhancing and maintaining the Legal Knowledge Hub, including updating content in collaboration with legal counsels

• Supporting legal counsels in their daily tasks
• Reviewing standard agreements like NDA's and commercial contracts
• Managing contract and litigation administration
• Contributing to the department's professionalism by streamlining tools, documents, and processes
• Identifying improvement opportunities and supporting team members
• Clearly communicating expectations to your team and providing regular updates
• Actively fostering collaboration with other teams and departments
• Engaging proactively with (international) stakeholders and Catawiki colleagues
• Coordinating corporate housekeeping tasks ensuring timely document processing
• Compiling and executing a variety of legal documents and agreements
• Assisting in resolving legal matters as required

• Non-negotiable 6-month traineeship duration
• Law certification or associate's degree (preferably a bachelor's degree) (or in the final stage)
• Technologically adept
• Experience in creating and reviewing legal documents
• Solution-oriented and practical mindset
• Emphasis on teamwork
• Strong organizational and communication capabilities
• Fluent in English, Proficient in Dutch (knowledge of other languages is a benefit)
• Preference for residency in the Netherlands
