Background Information

The mission of D&E Performance & Integration System Performance department is to enable the customer roadmap by delivering the right lithography machine performance when needed and also ensure the machine performance over its lifetime.
Before the machine shipped to customer, we do a whole system setup to ensure the machine can meet certain KPIs. One of them is overlay. Overlay is the image position errors between 2 layers. However, when customer starts using our lithography machine for production, it will start drifting and thus the initial overlay performance will not be as good as t=0 anymore.
BaseLiner overlay is an application product to maintain overlay performance of Extreme Ultra-Violet (EUV) machines over time. It uses mathematical models to describe actual scanner drift behavior and apply the drift correction on the scanner.

Your Assignment

Nowadays there are more than 100 EUV machines running in the customer factory and basically all customers are using BaseLiner overlay to correct for overlay drift. This internship is mainly to investigate:
- What are the physical contributors to scanner overlay drift?
- What are the drift rate for each contributors?
- Are there any customer or factory specific drift behavior due to their use cases?

From this internship, you will learn EUV lithography machine overlay knowledge and gain a broader overview of different hardware modules. You will also learn about how ASML setup a machine before shipping to customer and how we maintain its performance via drift control strategy. As for hands-on experience, you will deploy your matlab skills to do mathematical scripting and toolbox development. And you will also have a chance to apply statistics knowledge to interpret real scanner population data and link them to a physical mechanism by talking to other departments within ASML.

Your Profile

To be a fit for this role, you:

Are a MBO (vocational), bachelor/HBO, or Master student in the field of Physics, Mathematics, Data Science Have solid experience and knowledge in MATLAB as main data analysis software Have experience in Statistics (a plus) Are highly proactive and collaborative Have excellent (English) communication skills both verbal and written. Have strong analytical ability Are eager to understand the underlying physical mechanism.

This is an apprentice/graduation internship with a duration of minimum 8 months, 5 days a week.
