UX Research Intern

The primary goal of this internship is to gain experience in conducting user research by actively contributing to various product teams, with a focus on Map Visualization along with other topics such as Automotive, Navigation Guidance, and Developer Experience.

You'll have the opportunity to learn how to present and share your work in compelling ways in front of key stakeholders from different business and product units.

You'll get hands-on experience executing research using a variety of methods to iterate on products and produce the best user experiences.

You're a self-starter, proactive, and a great team player who is comfortable collaborating in and coordinating large international research projects.


What you'll do:

  • Align with key stakeholders to identify areas that require research.
  • Selfinitiate your research: strategic thinking and innovation skills required.
  • Collaborate with other UX Researchers on different projects to gain expertise in the methods/tools you'll need for your research.
  • Help design, plan, and perform research (qualitative and/or quantitative).
  • Analyze and extract insights from the research, connect quantitative and qualitative results, and propose actionable recommendations for practical improvements.
  • Find the best ways to enable stakeholders to act upon findings.
  • Think holistically about the endtoend TomTom experience.
  • Participate in UXR team rituals, as well as Product Organization meetings.

What you'll need:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree with a concentration in Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, Industrial Design, Human Behavior disciplines, or other related disciplines; you must be based in the Netherlands.
  • Strong conceptual, verbal, and visual communication skills; working fluency in English is expected.
  • Some experience with qualitative and quantitative user research methods, such as usability testing, contextual interviews, observational studies, surveys, usage analytics, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: align, collaborate, engage, convince.
  • A team player who is also confident working independently.
  • Solid timemanagement and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks or projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, collaborative tools such as Miro and Figma, survey tools, and online usability testing tools.
  • A knowledge of different usability methods and tools, and an eagerness to learn.
