**Functieomschrijving**
Onze internationale onderzoeksgroep is toonaangevend op het gebied van het menselijke microbioom, moleculaire diagnostiek en onderzoek naar antimicrobiële resistentie. Naast onze eigen onderzoekslijnen faciliteren we de laboratorium
- en data-analyses voor onderzoeken aan (klinische) afdelingen binnen de Universiteit Maastricht, het Maastricht UMC+ en daarbuiten. Centraal hierbij staat het ontrafelen van de rol van het microbioom in een breed scale aan ziekten (o.a. chronische darmziekten, allergieën, metabole ziekten, chronische longziekten en kanker) met als doel de patiëntenzorg te verbeteren door ziekten te voorspellen, vroegtijdig op te sporen of gerichter te behandelen.
Als data scientist/bioinformaticus ben je verantwoordelijk voor:
- het verzamelen, opschonen, analyseren en interpreteren van de grote (metagen)omics datasets die gegenereerd worden binnen deze onderzoeken om zo betekenisvolle inzichten te verkrijgen.
Hierbij werk je nauw samen met laboratoriumanalisten en (arts-)onderzoekers. Je speelt hierbij een coördinerende rol bij het opstellen van data analyseplannen voor onderzoeksprojecten, in nauwe samenspraak met artsen en onderzoekers van andere afdelingen, en de uiteindelijke uitvoering en rapportage hiervan. Daarnaast ben je betrokken bij het verzorgen van onderwijs op het gebied van Data Science en kunstmatige intelligentie, waaronder het begeleiden van stagiairs.
**Functie-eisen**
Wij bieden een uitdagende functie binnen een dynamische en stimulerende onderzoeksomgeving en vragen om een zeer gemotiveerde, enthousiaste en proactieve teamspeler.
We zoeken voor deze vacature iemand met het volgende profiel:
- WO werk
- en denkniveau, een PhD is een pre;
- Affiniteit met het werkveld microbiologie en voldoende biomedische voorkennis;
- Ervaring met het verwerken en analyseren van complexe data;
- Vaardig met R en andere functie-specifieke statistische kennis;
- Goede programmeervaardigheden in C/C++, Java, Perl of Python;
- Creativiteit in het zoeken van oplossingen;
- Belangrijke competenties zijn stressbestendigheid, flexibiliteit, goed communicatieve vaardigheden (schriftelijk en mondeling) en gericht op samenwerking;
- Het vermogen om prioriteiten te stellen en tegenstrijdige eisen af te wegen;
- Enthousiaste teamspeler, maar ook goed zelfstandig kunnen functioneren.
**Wat biedt de UM?**
**Als bio-informaticus bij de **Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences** **kom je in dienst bij de meest internationale universiteit van Nederland in het prachtige Maastricht. Verder bieden wij je**:
- Goede arbeidsvoorwaarden. De functie is ingeschaald in schaal 10-11 conform UFO-profiel onderzoeker met bijbehorende salarisinschaling op basis van ervaring tussen € 3.226,00 en € 5.929,00 bruto per maand (op basis van een fulltime dienstverband van 38 uur per week). In aanvulling op het maandsalaris zijn een 8,0% vakantie-uitkering en een 8,3% eindejaarsuitkering van toepassing.
- Een arbeidsovereenkomst voor een periode van 12 maanden met een omvang van 1.0 FTE, te verlengen met 3 jaar bij goede eerste resultaten.
- Bij de Universiteit Maastricht staat het welzijn van onze medewerkers hoog in het vaandel, zo hanteren we flexibele werktijden en de mogelijkheid om deels vanuit huis te werken indien de aard van je functie dit toelaat. Hiervoor ontvang je maandelijks een thuiswerk
- en internetvergoeding. Kom je fulltime bij ons werken, dan heb je jaarlijks recht op 29 vakantiedagen en 4 extra feestdagen, te weten carnavals maandag, -dinsdag, Goede Vrijdag en Bevrijdingsdag. Maak je gebruik van de mogelijkheid om compensatie-uren op te bouwen, dan komen hier nog eens 12 dagen bij. Daarnaast kun jij jouw arbeidsvoorwaarden personaliseren aan de hand van een cao-keuzemodel.
