Job Title: (Blended) Learning Developer at TU Delft

In this position, as a Learning Developer, you will propose initiatives to enhance educational programs. Your responsibilities include developing individual subjects, study lines, and entire curricula, as well as supporting and enhancing the skills of teachers. You will address questions like: What is the most effective didactic method for this module? What support do teachers need to deliver the best possible lessons? How can you integrate self-study assignments from students into physical lectures effectively? And are the educational materials aligned with the learning objectives?

You will work with teachers to identify areas for improvement, based on student evaluations, for example. As an advisor, you must be able to listen attentively to teachers' ideas and needs, demonstrate what is possible, and assist them in designing or redesigning their teaching methods while utilizing educational tools. Additionally, you should be capable of guiding teachers or teams in developing subjects, programs, and innovation projects. Your role will vary from advisor to project manager, coordinator, and hands-on supporter. This multi-faceted approach contributes to enhancing education and fostering educational innovations. Besides mentoring teachers, you will also advise educational management on the benefits of blended learning at TU Delft. Your role will extend to community building, occasional lunch lectures, workshops, material development, and involvement in innovation projects. You will also raise awareness of the value of open, online, and blended learning even at the coffee machine. Your approach involves managing expectations by promoting but maintaining a realistic perspective. Utilizing educational technology should serve to enhance the ultimate goal of better education, not as an end in itself. Finally, you will be involved in coordinating open and online education at the faculty level, including the development of MOOCs.

Role Requirements
  • You have an academic background in educational science, instructional design, or educational technology.
  • Prior experience in higher education is advantageous.
  • You enjoy collaborating with your team and teachers to incrementally enhance education at various levels and through different methods.
  • You are well-versed in the possibilities and limitations of innovation in education, with innovative ideas about digital and online learning, guidance, and assessment. You are willing to delve into tools to uncover their potential value for education, with a hands-on mentality to simplify teachers' lives.
  • You can easily identify the underlying problem behind a question and strike a balance between practical solutions and the ideal scenario.
  • You navigate smoothly within a large, complex organization, translating individual teachers' needs into solutions that benefit the entire faculty.
  • You possess persuasive skills, finding a middle ground among diverse interests and inspiring teachers to continuously enhance their teaching practices.
  • You enjoy working in a team and international environment, seamlessly switching between Dutch and English.

  • Salary based on scale 11 of the Dutch University Collective Labor Agreement, ranging from €4,332 to €5,929 gross per month, plus vacation allowance and year-end bonus.
