Internship | Physics-Based Model Implementation on a Battery Management System

About this role
Battery packs are composed of multiple battery cells connected in series or parallel. A Battery Management System is essential to monitor the individual cells, involving a read-out circuit for basic measurements like voltage, current, and temperature, and a controller to compute operational parameters such as the state-of-charge. The controller utilizes a battery model to estimate internal states and predict behavior based on measurable external parameters.
Your responsibilities
- Explore different forms of Physics-Based Models simplifications;
- Implement the PBM using Matlab/Simulink;
- Generate and execute the code on the targeted platform;
- Analyze the trade-off between model performance and computational load.
Expectations
You will work on modeling the PBM in Simulink and generating C-code for an embedded BMS platform. The internship aims to balance model accuracy and computational efficiency. By exploring simplified PBMs like the single particle model, you will optimize the PBM footprint while meeting the requirements for BMS tasks.
