The ASML EUV Source Mechatronics group is responsible to develop mechatronics that make lasers hit tin droplets 50.000 times per second and produce EUV light in lithography systems. Achieving this requires the use of extremely fast light sensors, high-precision actuators, and the implementation of high-bandwidth control systems. While doing so, we ensure a stable beam path towards the droplet by using advanced control techniques.

In our group we have a vacancy for a Mechatronics Architect in the Beam Measurement and Control ART. You will be the Architect of the Controls team with focus on development and integration of High- and Low-NA lithography systems, build the controls competence, and define the roadmap. You lead a team of engineers and help solve complex challenges within the EUV Source. The Controls team is around 15 people, and covers the full development cycle and delivers functioning mechatronics for an entirely novel optical platform. The team maintains the installed base, and ramp-up of future systems.

You will be working in a young, enthusiastic team with a collaborative and social atmosphere, where we also pay attention to non-work-related activities.

Role and Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for the design of the mechatronics architecture and functioning of the beam transport system. You’ll work in multidisciplinary Agile Release Train (ART), together with mechanical, electrical, metrology, and software teams. As mechatronics architect you balance performance, costs, and serviceability. You specify, design, make the technical budget analysis, and you are involved in integration, test planning, test execution, and trouble shooting.

  • Define controls architecture of new systems.
  • Define function roadmap.
  • Provide specifications to the mono-disciplinary teams.
  • Model and simulate the behavior of the(sub-)systems.
  • Deliver input for long term capacity plan and target annual planning.
  • Interview and select candidates to build a competent team.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of design engineers.

Education and experience

  • Masters or PhD in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Background in Systems and Control Engineering.
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in a similar role in a high tech industry.
  • Experience with design and realization of mechatronics systems.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary project work involving mechatronics, optics, electronics and software (preferably in an agile setting).
  • Sufficient knowledge in the semiconductor industry.

  • Ability to provide technical direction, motivate and convince a team of professional designers.
  • Preferred: experience with Python.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.).
