Within ASML the sector Development & Engineering is responsible for the specification and the design of the ASML products. The Mechatronics System Development (MSD) Departments within Mechatronics and Measurements Systems (MM) Cluster are responsible for specification, design, integration and qualification of the mechatronics sub-systems and components which are fitted into ASML end products. The main focus is on nanometer-accuracy positioning of high speed components for transporting/positioning of wafers and reticles and adjustments of optical elements. Control engineering, dynamics, actuator design, position measurement systems are part of these department’s main competences. As group leader you will manage a group of highly professional engineers from all over the world with academic backgrounds and many years experience in the industry. In the position of Group Manager you will manage the EUV Optical Column Mechatronics group in the D&E MM EUV Optics & Dynamics Department in ASML’s EUV lithographic products.

The Optical Column Mechatronics EUV group is responsible for the mechatronics of the Projection Optic Box (POB) and the Illuminator in both our Low NA and High NA EUV systems. The team works closely together with our supplier Zeiss. Mechatronics is a sub-function of FC-010 (Illumination) and FC-012 (Projection) and closely interacts with the System Dynamics team and the DE EUV Optical Column department.

Job responsibilities include:

• Leading a group, 20 - 30 people, of highly skilled, professional engineers, operating in multidisciplinary projects. So you have a strong people focus.
• Managing the EUV Optical Column Mechatronics roadmap process, including development and maintenance of the Optical Column Mechatronics competence
• Being responsible for the overall Mechatronics developments for the EUV Optical Column (Illuminator and Projection Optics Box (POB), both Low-NA and High-NA), including organization and quality of operation of projects and teams operating in Agile Release Trains
• Acting as a solution provider, achieving alignment with program management on the content and staffing of EUV development projects
• Planning and allocation of people to the various project activities, in cooperation with departmental leaders and project managers
• Ensuring the availability and adoption of best known methods, standards and tooling. You facilitate an effective learning feedback cycle. You stimulate and coordinate joined development with 3rd parties like universities (eg via internships) and (farm-out) companies
• Building and managing a constructive relation with our co-developer and supplier Zeiss
• Being a role model by living our values (Care, Collaborate and Challenge) and enabling your employees to do the same
• Connecting and enabling your team members by building strong relations with people outside of their direct scope. You coach and mentor your team members to support their personal growth
• Stimulating a product and customer mind-set of the group-members at the fore-front of the technical development
• Hiring of world-class group-members to excel in project and product deliverables, particularly within the competence areas of the group.
• Driving changes in your own area of responsibility
• Being part of the D&E MM EUV Optics & Dynamics staff. You contribute to the definition and implementation of departmental policy and departmental planning, including personnel, budgets, investments, resources and methods
• Taking the responsibility of translating ASML’s strategy into a clear vision, and direction, that inspires, motivates and develops people

To successfully manage the challenges and complex environment, the Group Manager needs to have experience working on high-tech products in multidisciplinary and high pace environments.

• Masters degree or PhD in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical engineering
• At least 8 years of experience in a relevant technical field
• Experience in new product Introduction or system performance integration
• Proven ability to work in a complex global stakeholder field
• Several years’ experience in managing a team

The job is scaled as job grade 10 – 11 depending on the candidates experience and qualifications.
