Vattenfall is expanding its Geoscience department, and we are seeking a Lead Engineer for the Geotechnical Team to work under the Head of Geotechnics within the Geoscience Department of BA Wind.

This role offers an opportunity to lead a team of geotechnical experts, focusing on exploring and characterizing offshore wind farm sites. Your tasks will involve desk studies, feasibility assessments, site investigation campaigns, data interpretation, and technical reporting to advance our projects.

Your Responsibilities

As a Lead Engineer, you will have significant autonomy in planning and delivering technical tasks for offshore wind farm projects. Your role will involve:

  • Being a technical expert in geotechnical matters within the Geoscience team, providing guidance and expertise internally and externally.
  • Developing strategies, processes, and budgets to optimize site characterization studies and fieldwork campaigns.
  • Managing and overseeing site investigation campaigns in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Reviewing geotechnical reports, conducting feasibility studies, and ensuring compliance with technical standards.
  • Exploring new technologies and fostering research collaborations with industry and academic partners.
  • Mentoring junior team members and contributing to the Geotechnical team's development.
Qualifications

Your Profile

We are looking for individuals with practical application of academic knowledge, a strong renewable energy focus, and a commitment to our mission. You should have a background in geology or geotechnical engineering, extensive project experience in renewables, and a collaborative mindset. Your profile should include:

  • A master's or doctorate degree in civil/geotechnical engineering and at least fifteen years of relevant experience in the renewables sector.
  • Proficiency in site investigation practices for wind developments, geotechnical software tools, and project management.
  • Familiarity with health & safety standards, environmental compliance, and mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Experience in an international setting and fluency in English.
