We're looking for an intern/graduate student to join our 3D Printing team in Eindhoven. Signify is a world leader in lighting that is committed to creating a low-carbon future. Signify is utilizing 100% renewable electricity in all its manufacturing sites since 2020 and have set even bolder sustainability goals, such as doubling its positive impact on the environment and society by 2025.

To achieve these goals, we are applying innovative technologies like 3D printing to manufacture products closer to our customers, with more responsible materials and with forward-thinking designs. The "Business Unit 3D Printing" within Signify is committed to developing and producing 3D printed luminaires that make a positive impact under brands like "Philips MyCreation." This internship will focus on the exploration of 3D printed geometries created using cutting-edge generative and algorithmic design strategies. The intern/ graduate will help scope interesting directions for design software, tools and techniques and explore these in a hands-on creation process.

What you'll do

  • Install and configure Klipper, Moonraker and Fluidd on a Raspberry Pi running Linux.
  • Analyze the existing software to understand its architecture and functionalities.
  • Implement functions for real-time monitoring of printer status, including progress, temperature and error logging
  • Perform extensive testing to validate the integration and ensure reliability and accuracy in data reporting and task management.
  • Document the installation process, integration steps and any changes to the software.

Your qualifications

  • Studying for a bachelor's/master's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python programming and familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  • Understanding of 3D printing software and hardware, specifically Klipper, Moonraker and Fluidd.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to achieving results.
  • Excellent communication skills in English for documentation and reporting
