We are seeking a skilled Climate Data Engineer to join our team at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI). As a Climate Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining climate data handling systems.Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to climate adaptation by providing hands-on experience in designing, building, and maintaining climate data handling systems.Collaborate with the Climate Services team to develop new climate information products, such as high-resolution maps of urban climate.Maintain and update climatological data handling systems.Support the team in developing new climate information products, such as pan-European observational climate maps, climate monitoring products, and high-resolution maps for the Netherlands.Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in ICT.Profound knowledge of Python and proven experience.Experience working with large datasets, including data collection, processing, and dissemination.Amply experience with scripting languages like PHP, Shell, Bash in a Linux environment.Analytical thinking skills to comprehend complex data structures, recognize patterns, and extract insights that inform data-driven decision-making.Keen interest in climate and climate change.What We Offer:
