Global (Group) Logistics Director (Defense) (Tax Free in GCC)

The role directs, develops and implements overall operations of transportation network and strategy, including compliance with safety.
Develops and directs GL operational policies and procedures to ensure process and cost efficiencies and safety in all transportation activities.
Monitors Transportation cost, service level agreements and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems, and achieve efficiencies.
Provides input to strategic decisions and budget.
Develops and execute strategies to support growth, improve processes and cost efficiency
Drive optimum global logistics management and alignment with trade regulations. Manage global transport and logistic services for successful flow of product from origin to regional destinations.
Global carrier management.
Increased inbound product flow visibility in support of exception management monitoring and BI analytics.
• Develop and implement end to end logistics of the Group businesses to ensure all orders ship and deliver on time in good condition.
• Develop logistics strategies and optimize the logistics network and processes for new and existing business.
• Lead a dynamic team with direct accountability for all contracts, costs, performance, and compliance.
• Develop and implement improvements to Group Logistics Processes.
• Optimize distribution processes to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
• Partners with internal and external stakeholders to forecast and meet capacity needs.
• Serve as lead for sourcing and negotiating contract pricing and terms for all modes of freight.
• Manage annual RFQ process across all modes of transportation, Ocean, FTL/LTL, Air.
• Maintain relations with suppliers and customers.
• Identify & select the best logistics supplier partners to work with.
• Develop standard operating procedures and scheduling/shipping practices for efficiently carrying out logistics activities.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, material flow improvement, and business development.
• Create and maintain detailed financial reporting on all import activities including order management, logistics and shipping.
• Advise international routing instructions.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, Transportation, or a related field of study. MBA desirable.
• 12 + years' experience managing international and domestic inbound and outbound freight including import/export compliance.
• Demonstrated experience leading multiple Ocean, FTL/LTL RFQ efforts.
• Demonstrated experience in establishing a Global Logistic function at Group level
• Experience leading International Ocean Shipping department.
• Experience in negotiating within all modes of freight.
• Experience with LTL tariffs, classifications, and pricing.
• Experience with customs processes and regulations to export and import goods.
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with a focus on creating efficient and high-performing teams.
• In-depth knowledge of safety and compliance standards in warehouse operations.
• Proficiency in logistics software and technologies
• Proven experience in network management, logistics and operations.
