As an Area Manager Credit Control EMEA , you will have direct managerial responsibilities over several teams and markets across the region. You will also serve as a member of the EMEA Credit Control Senior Management team providing guidance and direction to the broader EMEA Credit Control function across the entire region. 

As a highly visible leader, you support Booking.com BV by acting as a bridge for its Accommodation Partners, for Partner Services teams, and other internal stakeholders, while driving delicate balance between Booking.com BV’s revenue opportunities and collections optimisation. And due to the rapid and significant growth of its business and the regional organisation, the tasks and expectations of this role will evolve over time.

Managerial responsibilities over several teams and markets across the region to ensure that payments are made on time, losses are kept to a minimum, and arrears are collected. Build a strong team of Team Leads and support them to grow and develop team members. Look for areas to improve processes and innovations to ultimately improve the ease and scalability of collections. Close connection to Partner Services teams in the regions, to ensure alignment and that our teams are adding value to the overall commercial strategies.

Responsibility

  • Monitor the status of credit and collection activities to identify problem areas and drive adapting new or amended procedures and operational processes to overall increase the performance of the team.
  • Serve as a member of the Credit Control Senior Management team providing guidance and direction to the broader Credit Control function across the entire region
  • Drive new collection methods based on the needs of the appointed area such as seasonality, economic conditions, available payment methods or other factors
  • Actively monitor data and analytics to optimize and modify strategy as needed and create reporting
  • Innovate & drive change initiatives and to help to grow the business
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and applicable governmental regulations
  • Manage a team of employees and hire new employees to ensure that the credit and collections activities are conducted effectively and ethically and comply with the organization’s policies and standards as well as relevant regulations and laws. Ensure the development of individuals within the organization. Coach and direct people to allow them to achieve both organizational and individual objectives
  • Partner with Partner Services to make adequate decisions on the partners and to ensure long term trust and relations are built.
  • Actively collaborate with Senior Management in Credit Control globally in identifying department goals and long term strategy
  • Utilise skills in project management to lead large teams through change processes
  • Conduct organisational reviews within own area to identify strengths and weaknesses and and to assess operational effectiveness
  • Make recommendations to Senior Management in Credit Control based on emerging trends, viability of outside business partners and internal business process improvements.
  • Collaborate with O2C Area Managers in other regions as well as Financial Services and Product Teams to optimize O2C key processes

Knowledge and Skills

  • Master degree
  • 5 - 8 years Experience in Credit Control
  • Knowledge on Credit Control procresses is highly desirable 
  • Lead a team through application of deep knowledge of one job area or broad knowledge of several job areas
  • Solution oriented and results driven
  • Strong work ethic; self-directed and resourceful
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in an international environment
  • Proactive, flexible and capable of working independently as well as working in a team
  • Good communication and analytical skills
  • Project management skills
  • Facilitate and practice security and confidentiality of information;
  • Ability to multi-task & flexible attitude
  • Five years of experience managing a team of financial practitioners
  • Track record of project management in operational disciplines and topics
  • Evidence of work on financial and analytical projects
