We are looking fortalented, self-starters with a passion for analytics to join our growing team. Our Data & ML Engineering team is the key foundational capability to enable end to endanalytics. As part of the Data Engineering team, your role has accountability for building the dataproductions, platform foundation and Brenntag’s data mesh.

You will collaboratewith the Data Scientist, Data Visualization Designer/ Developers, BI Analysts,ML Engineers, Business Process Owners, Master Data Managers and Technology Leaders across theorganization to deliver domain data towards digital user experiences and various analytics productsacross Brenntag. You will be leading and agile group to ensure delivery of working and scalable data products withinan emerging data mesh.

Our Data Product & Engineering practice is building all foundational capabilities for Brenntag's new data marketplace. The place, where all Brenntag’s analytical and operational data converges, connecting digital source systems facilitating complex business processes, with digital user experiences, advanced analytics products and strategic reporting solutions.
You will be part of Brenntag’s Digital, Data & Technology organization, driving forward a technology transformation within a well-established and successful chemical supply chain business. 
You will collaborate with the Data Scientist, Data Visualization Designer/ Developers, BI Analysts, ML Engineers, 
Business Process Owners, Master Data Managers and Technology Leaders across the organization to deliver 
domain data towards digital user experiences and various analytics products across Brenntag. You will be leading 
and agile group of Data Engineers to ensure delivery of working and scalable data products within our emerging data mesh. 
Your growing team is composed of Data and Platform Engineers in Amsterdam all joined in a shared passion for creating tangible monetary value with data-, generative AI- and ML-enabled advanced decision making.
Your customers are internal workload Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Product Managers and members of our innovation lab.

• Responsible for Data Engineers building advanced analytics applications together with ML Engineers and Data Scientists, driving critical EBITA growth targets, you will oversee the application architecture and engineering practices across the functions. 
• Responsible for Cloud or Platform Engineers providing platform services to all data engineering workload teams, ensuring adoption of engineering best practices, frameworks and guard rails as well as providing platform critical services, such as streaming, CDC and catalogue solutions. 
• You Influence the product implementation technical roadmap and oversee the re-build of key applications.
• You anticipate, identify and facilitate the solution to enterprise issues concerning data management to improve data quality. 
• Own relationships with key business stakeholders to understand and anticipate current and future 
  business needs. 
• You oversee the insourcing of critical data engineering capabilities, bringing more Seniority to the team and hiring and coaching tech leads and other team leads to help you manage your growing team. 
• Collaboratively review design, code, test plans and dataset implementation performed by other data 
  engineers in support of maintaining best practices (data engineering standards) 
• Ensure the implementation of automated workflows as well as continuous integration, test-driven 
  development and production deployment frameworks. 
• Guide the team in troubleshooting data issues and performing root cause analysis to proactively resolve product issues. 
• Effectively communicate with leadership across organizations, influencing the end-to-end solutions and protecting the department's interest. 
• Create and foster an environment that values and promotes autonomy, skill mastery, empowerment, 
  transparency, innovation. and continuous learning. 
• Provide guidance to team members on their work and personal development. 
• Establish and ensure adoption of best practices. 
  Evaluate and hire potential new talent. 

YOUR PROFILE 

• A bachelor's degree in information technology or related field 
• Minimum 7 years relevant work experience 
• Experience building cloud scalable, real time and high-performance data lake solutions (AWS, Kafka, HVR) 
• Experience building, providing & scaling cloud data services & center of excellence’ 
• Experience with relational SQL and scripting languages such as Shell and Python 
• Experience with source control tools such as GitHub and related dev process 
• Experience with workflow scheduling/orchestration tools 
• Well versed in data platform / marketplace capabilities, experienced in scaling data catalogues & data capture services 
• Strong understanding of developing complex data solutions 
• Hands-on experience of cleaning, preparing and optimizing data for ingestion and consumption 
• Experience leading and influencing others 
• Ability to identify and resolve both people and process related issues 
• Previous experience leading an agile team 
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms 
• Strong understanding of solution and technical design 
• Strong problem solving and analytical mindset 
• Able to influence and communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with team members and 
  business stakeholders 
• Able to quickly pick up new programming languages, technologies, and frameworks
