The Role

Credit Europe Bank is seeking a full-time Senior Legal Counse l to join our legal team. You will serve as a key legal resource, advising on a wide array of legal matters with a particular focus on corporate lending, marine finance, real estate finance, restructurings, and relevant legal cases. This role includes managing and coordinating these areas independently, engaging with external counsels in cross-border matters, and leading internal projects. You will report directly to the Head of Legal and this position offers potential exposure to management.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will:

  • Offer expert legal advice on corporate lending, marine finance, real estate finance, restructurings, and related legal cases.
  • Independently manage and coordinate the aforementioned areas, ensuring all actions align with the bank's policies and legal requirements.
  • Draft high-quality loan and security documentation (LMA).
  • Engage and interact with external counsels, managing them in cross-border matters.
  • Lead and participate in internal projects that contribute to the bank's operational efficiency and legal compliance.
  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to all departments within the Bank.
  • Stay abreast of legal developments and industry practices that could impact the Bank’s operations.
  • Report directly to the Head of Legal, providing updates and contributing to strategy development.

Personal Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A law degree and qualified to practice law in the EU, England, or Turkey. Dutch law qualification is highly advantageous.
  • A minimum of 10 years' post-qualified experience in a reputable law firm or as an in-house lawyer at an international bank or financial institution.
  • Significant experience in corporate lending, marine finance, real estate finance, and restructurings.
  • Excellent drafting skills for loan and security documentation (LMA).
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and transactions, and lead internal projects.
  • Ability to engage and interact effectively with external counsels, especially in managing cross-border matters.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Proficiency in Dutch is highly advantageous.
  • A strong sense of responsibility, with the willingness to take on high-level tasks and challenges.
